Vietnam's gross domestic product growth accelerated in the third quarter from the previous three months, data showed on Friday, but fell short of this year's growth target as dull demand for exports overshadowed support from monetary easing. GDP in the July-September quarter is expected to have grown 5.33% from a year earlier, faster than the 4.05% expansion in the second quarter, the General Statistics Office said in a report on Friday. Capital Economics said the worst for Vietnam's economy was over but growth remained subdued by past standards. With inflation becoming a growing concern, however, it did not expect a further rate cut from the central bank. War veteran Giang Mi Pao’s tireless efforts to change lives of people in Suoi Dong
War veteran Giang Mi Pao was born in 1944. He served in the military for six years and was admitted to the Party. After completing military service, the former soldier came back to his hometown and was appointed the village’s head. Mr. Pao recalled that in early 1980s, people in the locality faced numerous difficulties since they lacked cultivation land, proper production tools, seedlings, capital, and farming techniques. The whole hamlet had only 2 hectares of land for one-crop rice growing and locals used to suffer from hunger for 4 to 6 months/year. As the only party member in the hamlet at that time and a former soldier who had joined the national resistance war, Mr. Pao kept thinking about locals’ difficulties and how to develop local economy, eliminate hunger, and reduce poverty sustainably. “Love of soldiers in Southwestern region” Club makes debut
The club belongs to “Love of Vietnamese soldiers” Club, contributing to gathering war veterans to organize practical activities to uphold tradition while taking care of needy veterans. Vietnam is lacking in green buildings: construction official
Vietnam is home to over 300 green buildings, but that figure is much lower than the country's potential, according to a construction official at the Vietnam Green Building Week 2023. Themed 'Green Building Development Promotes Green Transformation in Construction Industry: Opportunities and Challenges,' the event was held by the Ministry of Construction in coordination with other units on Thursday in Ho Chi Minh City, Speaking at the event, Nguyen Tuong Van, Deputy Minister of Construction, said that state management agencies have encouraged businesses to develop green buildings on a voluntary basis and Vietnam has yet to introduce mandatory regulations on green building development. Currently, the country is home to about 300 green buildings with a combined floor space area of 7.2 million square meters. Cybersecurity threats on the rise in Việt Nam’s SMB sector: reports
Tables show the incidence of malware detected in six countries in Southeast Asia. — Source Kaspersky There was a huge jump in the number of threats targeting small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) in Việt Nam in the first half of the year, global cybersecurity and digital privacy company Kaspersky has said. According to the latest statistics from Kaspersky Security Network (KSN), until May some 1,120 SMB employees encountered malware or unwanted software disguised as business applications. Of them, 710 got distributed. The number of threats targeting SMBs it detected and blocked increased from 1,240 in H1 2022 to 25,194 in H1 this year, Kaspersky said. Malware, an umbrella term for “malicious software”, is designed by and for professional cybercriminals to cause harm to a user’s device or network.
