Illustrative photo (Source: VNA) Quang Tri (VNA) – The central province of Quang Tri has approved investment plans for four wind and two solar power projects, whose costs amount to more than 7.4 trillion VND (319.1 million USD). Among these projects are Gio Thanh Energy JSC’s 50 MW Gio Thanh 1 solar electricity plant, which spans 65 ha in Gio Linh district’s Gio Thanh commune. The investment is estimated to exceed 1.1 trillion VND (47.4 million USD). Meanwhile, SECO JSC has been given approval to carry out the 50 MW Gio Thanh 2 solar power plant project. The plant, covering 60 ha in Gio Linh’s Gio Thanh and Gio Hai communes, will be built at a cost of some 1.1 trillion VND. Local authorities have also allowed the construction of the Huong Phung 3 wind power plant in Huong Hoa district. US Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel J. Kritenbrink said that issuing energy policies and relevant decisions is not always easy for many countries. Like the US and some other nations, Vietnam needs to make some important and difficult decisions in the energy sector. Vietnam, U.S. establish comprehensive energy cooperation partnership
The document was inked by representatives of the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and the U.S. Department of State during a working trip to the U.S. from September 30 to October 2 by a MoIT delegation. The MoU is an important milestone in energy collaboration between the two countries, opening up a new page of more intensive and comprehensive cooperation. The document covers various cooperation areas in the energy sector, ranging from energy security, energy market development and energy transformation to relevant regulations and policies, energy management and energy technology and infrastructure, including the role of public-private cooperation. Developing microfinance institutions to help curb “black credit”
Illustrative image (Photo: VietnamPlus) Hanoi (VNA) – The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) has requested credit institutions to enhance management to ensure their staff adhere to legal regulations and do not take part in “black credit” activities. SBV Governor Le Minh Hung recently signed a decision to issue the banking sector’s plan of action to implement the Prime Minister’s Directive 12/CT-TTg, dated April 25, 2019, to help curb “black credit”. According to this decision, the Governor assigned subordinate units of the SBV to coordinate with ministries, sectors and socio-economic organisations to help control “black credit”. He asked departments and authorities to disseminate legal documents on bank credit provision mechanisms and policies, along with soft loan packages, to people of all social strata.
