LOS ANGELES — A US judge on Monday gave the government more time to reunite migrant children aged five or younger with their parents separated as a consequence of a "zero tolerance" policy, US media reported. The decision came after a government lawyer said around half of the 102 young children could be placed back with their parents by the previously-given deadline of Tuesday. They are among more than 2,300 children split up from their families as a consequence of the "zero tolerance" practice that saw their parents prosecuted for illegally crossing the border, even if they did so to seek asylum. Many are fleeing gang violence and poverty in Central America. Following domestic and global outcry over the separations, in which some children were kept in chain-link enclosures, Trump ended the practice on June 20. But The New York Times reported late last week that, under pressure to reunite the families, authorities were struggling to connect them after records linking … [Read more...] about US judge extends deadline for reuniting migrant children
President Donald Trump said on Sunday that people who enter the United States illegally should be sent back immediately to where they came from without any judicial process, likening them to invaders who are trying to “break into” the country. Strong Borders, No Crime!” It was unclear if Trump was advocating an expansion of the provision that allows expedited removals of illegal immigrants at or near the U.S. border, a policy his administration has … [Read more...] about Trump says illegal immigrants should be deported with ‘no judges or court cases’

Let's start with a bomb. Over 10 days ago a new brand of coup d'etat took place in Paraguay against elected president Fernando Lugo. It was virtually unnoticed by global corporate media. At the time, the US embassy noted political conditions were not ideal for a coup. Key among the plotters was former president Nicanor Duarte (2003 to 2008), severely bashed by progressive South American governments for having allowed US Special Forces in Paraguayan soil to conduct "educational courses", "domestic peacekeeping operations" and "counter-terrorism training". This US Special Forces drive was happening decades after "one of our bastards", notorious dictator-general Alfredo Stroessner (in power from 1954 to 1989) had allowed the set up of a giant US-owned semi-clandestine landing strip near the Argentina-Brazil-Paraguay Triple Border - later to become part of the war on drugs, and then the war on terror. So it's a no-brainer which was the first government to recognize last Friday's coup … [Read more...] about Welcome to ‘democraship’
