General Director of PetrolVietnam Nguyen Vu Truong Son recently worked with JBIC representatives on financial arrangements for the project. According to PetrolVietnam, the project, worth nearly 10 billion USD, is one of the two largest gas projects in Vietnam. The capital arrangement for the project is one of the main concerns of foreign partners involved in the project. Ho Chi Minh City has petitioned the prime minister to move two proposed subway routes to priority status among the proposed projects to receive funding from official development assistance (ODA) loans from Japan. The ODA loans would be sourced from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC). The two metro routes include Route 2 from Ben Thanh Market to Tham Luong Bridge in District 12 and the 20-km Route 3 from Ben Thanh Market to Mien Tay Bus Station. The Japan Bank for International Cooperation and China's Exim Bank will jointly provide 7.3 billion yen (US$62.37 million) to build a power plant in Vietnam's northern Hai Phong city.
