Foreigners wait for their flights at Lombok International Airport (Photo: EPA/VNA) Jakarta (VNA) – Lombok International Airport of Indonesia is crowded with tourists who want to leave Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara province, after an earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale struck on August 5. Agung Sampurno, head of the Mataram Immigration Office, said foreigners with expired visas affected by the earthquake in Lombok will be exempt from the fine of 25 USD per day under Indonesia’s regulations. Those in need will also receive financial aid, food, drinking water and support to replace papers and passports lost in the earthquake. The immigration office has opened a mobile office at the Lombok airport to instruct people, especially foreigners, on various procedures. Indonesia reopens airport after volcanic eruption
Indonesia’s Bali resort island reopened Ngurah Rai International Airport at 1:30 pm on June 29 (local time)(Photo: AFP/VNA) Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia’s Bali resort island reopened Ngurah Rai International Airport at 1:30 pm on June 29 (local time) after Mount Agung’s eruption disrupted hundreds of flights and left thousands stranded. The airport was originally scheduled to be closed from 2am to 6pm on the day. Indonesia’s second busiest airport canceled 115 international flights and 203 domestic others. The disruption has affected nearly 27,000 passengers. The airport spokesman said that relevant authority has kept close watch on the volcano’s activities and the airport will be closed if Mount Agung’s eruption threatens flight safety. Malaysia to charge women with airport murder of North Korean
Both women will be formally charged under section 302 of the penal code, which carries the death penalty. Two women - an Indonesian and a Vietnamese - will be charged on Wednesday with murder over the killing in Malaysia of the estranged half-brother of North Korea's leader, Malaysia's attorney general said. Police have said the women smeared VX nerve agent, a chemical on a U.N. list of weapons of mass destruction, on Kim Jong Nam's face in an assault recorded on security cameras in the Malaysian capital's airport on February 13. U.S. and South Korean officials believe Kim was the victim of an assassination orchestrated by North Korea. He had been living in exile, under Beijing's protection, in the Chinese territory of Macau, and had criticized the regime of his family and his half-brother Kim Jong Un.
