The Vietnam women’s football team have wrapped up their 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games campaign in style after grabbing a 1-0 victory against archrivals Thailand in the title match on Saturday night to successfully defend their gold medal at the region’s largest sporting event. The game at northern Quang Ninh Province’s Cam Pha Stadium, which was fully filled with 16,020 spectators, was Vietnam’s ninth consecutive SEA Games final and the sixth in a row for Thailand. After the hosts dominated in the first 15 minutes, Thailand started pushing forward. No goals were scored despite many chances created by both sides in the first half. Young lifter Rahmat Erwin Abdullah of Indonesia won a gold medal and broke a Games record in the men's 73kg. The 21-year-old athlete succeeded with a 155kg lift in the snatch. This record is also a personal record for Erwin. His previous heaviest lift was a significantly lighter 145kg . Moving on to the clean and jerk class, Erwin almost immediately beat his competitors at the first opportunity, immediately lifting 180kg. This again surpassed the SEA Games record of 177kg. Erwin increased his burden further to 190kg and managed it perfectly on the second attempt. Erwin lifted a huge 345kg in total. An additional 1,457 new Covid-19 infections were confirmed on Saturday, raising the national tally to over 10.70 million, according to the Ministry of Health. According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 33 out of 63 localities in the country with some localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (370), Nghe An (95), Vinh Phuc (91), Phu Tho (88), and Quang Ninh (61). As of Saturday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to over 10.70 million. The country now stands 12th among 227 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. On May 21, an additional 3,069 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 9.39 million. The bronze in the event went to two pairs from Vietnam. In the women’s individual event, the final match was between Anchisa Chanta and Luksika Kumkhum, both from Thailand. Luksika Kumkhum beat Anchisa Chanta 2-1 to win gold. The bronze medal was shared by Vietnam’s Chanelle Van Nguyen and Alexander Eala from the Philippines. In the 10th minute of the match, Peerapat Kaewwilai  broke Vietnam 's net again, bringing the 2nd goal for Thailand, setting a 2-0 score in the first half. In the second half, with the enthusiastic support of thousands of spectators, the Vietnamese futsal players intensified their attacks and created many scoring opportunities, but they all failed to get the ball into Thailand's net. Vietnam and Australia are both members of at least three free trade agreements, namely ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area (AANZFTA), CPTPP and the Regional Economic Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). According to data of the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, last year, two-way trade between Vietnam and Australia hit 12.4 billion USD for the first time, up more than 49 percent compared with that of 2020. The value of shipments to Australia reached more than 4.45 billion USD, a year-on-year increase of 23 percent. Vietnam spent nearly 8 billion USD in importing goods from Australia, up nearly 70 percent against 2020’s figure.
