Syrian state TV said on Monday the United States was suspected of striking an air base hours after U.S. President Donald Trump warned of a “big price to pay” as aid groups said dozens of people were killed by poison gas in a rebel-held town. The United States denied attacking the Syrian base, and France also said it had not carried it out. “At this time, the Department of Defense is not conducting air strikes in Syria,” the Pentagon said in a statement. “However, we continue to closely watch the situation and support the ongoing diplomatic efforts to hold those who use chemical weapons, in Syria and otherwise, accountable.” When asked about the explosions, an Israeli spokeswoman declined to comment. On February 25, Israeli forces launched a large-scale ground operation in the West Bank city of Nablus, the biggest since the Operation Defensive Shield in 2002. The Israeli military said the operation was targeting Palestinian terrorist cells. During the incursion participated in by up to 60 military vehicles along with some bulldozers, the Israeli forces imposed curfew in the city. The Israeli troops also laid siege to the National Hospital in the city where the soldiers examined the identities of people leaving or entering the hospital, reported Xinhuanet. The Palestinian Ministry of Health has demanded the siege on hospitals to be lifted. So far, clashes sparked between militants, stone throwers and Israeli soldiers have wounded two Israeli soldiers.
