Vietnam, Russia reinforce strategic partnership

The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister visited Vietnam on June 13-14 at the invitation of the Foreign Ministry of Vietnam to attend the ninth Vietnam-Russia Strategic Dialogue on Diplomacy-Defense-Security and Political Consultation at the deputy-foreign-ministerial level, which aimed to roll out the cooperation plan between the two foreign ministries for the 2017-2018 period. At the reception on June 13 in Hanoi, Mr. Minh suggested that the two sides boost their discussions on regional and global issues for better coordination and wished Russia to further cooperate with ASEAN and actively contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region. Vietnamese war veterans in Czech contribute to homeland

At the ceremony (Photo: VNA) Prague (VNA) – Vietnamese war veterans in the Czech Republic recently gathered in Prague on the occasion of the 74th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22). At the meeting, Duong Dinh Tuy, President of the Vietnamese War Veterans’ Association in the Czech Republic, reviewed the development of the Vietnam People’s Army over the past 74 years. The participants paid tribute to soldiers who sacrificed their lives for national liberation and freedom. Colonel Cao Hung Trang, defence attache and Nguyen Duy Nhien, President of the Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic lauded the important contributions of the Vietnamese War Veterans’ Association to the Vietnamese community in the country. PM promises 5-7 per cent corporate income tax cuts at GMS Summit

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the sixth GMS Summit “We have been working to meet our commitments to protect intellectual property rights, innovative ideas, and the inventions of startups. We will continue to boost tax policy reforms and corporate income tax will be decreased to 15-17 per cent from the current 20-22 per cent,” stated Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the sixth Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit. At the summit, the PM said that in 2017, Vietnam continued to maintain one of Asia’s highest economic growths, with inflation controlled at 3.5 per cent. The country’s interest and exchange rates remained stable, trade turnover reached a record $425 billion, and foreign reserves have exceeded $60 billion. According to the World Bank, Vietnam’s Ease of Doing Business Index last year jumped 14 places to stand 68th among 190 economies. Khanh Hoa authorities commemorate 64 Gac Ma naval martyrs

(Photo: VNA) Khanh Hoa (VNA) – The authorities of the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa and local armed forces gathered on March 14 to pay tribute to 64 naval officers and soldiers who lost their lives in a battle to protect Gac Ma (Johnson South) Reef in Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago three decades ago. They offered flowers and incense at the monument dedicated to Gac Ma soldiers built in Cam Lam district to show their gratitude to the heroes who bravely defended Vietnam’s sacred sea and island sovereignty and died with honour on March 14, 1988. The monument lies at the centre of the 2.5-hectare memorial complex dedicated to 64 naval soldiers inaugurated in 2017.
