Vietnam runs out of luxury cars
Trung Kien, 33, from the northern province of Bac Ninh, said he has been looking for a luxury car with a price tag of around VND7 billion ($300,000) for a month, but found nothing to buy. He said he would have to wait for three to six months to get a popular luxury car delivered, due to shortage of components, especially semiconductors and chips. Over the last two years, supply from the world's largest producer, China, has been trickling due to impacts of Covid-19, resulting in a global shortage. Supply of luxury cars in Vietnam is hit the hardest, as brands focus on delivering orders to their major markets like the U.S. or European countries. Mercedes-Benz customers are said to wait for at least three months for some SUVs and S-class sedans, and up to a year for the ultra-luxury Maybach sedans and SUVs. Some locally made models, including E-class sedans and GLC SUVs, are also in short supply, so buyers will have to wait 1-2 months to get their unit delivered. Many auto … [Read more...] about Vietnam runs out of luxury cars
Prices of international schools in Vietnam are out of reason
"The prices of private international schools in Vietnam are out of reason and not to justify. They target embassy and corporate contracts but don't care for individuals paying their school fees out of their own pocket who depend on scholarships and the goodwill of the schools admission. Government should regulate the system. Public schools require Vietnamese language. That's no option for two years to stay." Christian Grajek "Even the famous Harvard demands only 54,002 USD/year. Anyone who sends his/her kids to such schools must be a fool. Money can buy many things, but never the intelligence." jnartca "A waste of money, more so if paid out of own pockets. Speaking of own experience having sent own kids to international schools (companies paid), a total rip-off. Many teachers at these schools are not even qualified to teach and kept moving on to the next country/adventure after a few years. If you have money to spend, better send your kids to really top schools abroad. Just a … [Read more...] about Prices of international schools in Vietnam are out of reason

S&P Global Ratings has upgraded its long-term credit rating on Vietnam to BB+ with a stable outlook on the back of its strong economic recovery and improved government institutional settings. According to the Ministry of Finance, the S&P upgrade shows the economy is on a solid recovery track following the government’s decisions to ease domestic COVID-19 restrictions and reopen its borders to the world as well as due to its impressively improved vaccination and a flexible shift in COVID-19 control policy. A marked improvement in administrative reform, especially related to external debt burden management, a strong economic outlook, a firm international position, and a robust FDI inflow are important factors that further support the rating. The ‘Stable’ outlook in the next 12-24 months S&P forecast indicates that the Vietnamese economy would continue to recover and overcome difficulties caused by the pandemic over the past two years, helping consolidate its … [Read more...] about S&P raises Vietnam’s long-term credit rating to BB+ with stable outlook
