Photo: Doan Tan/VNA (VOVworld) – National Assembly deputies agreed on Wednesday to change the name of the draft Law on Information Security to the draft Law on Internet Information Security to better reflect the nature of this Law. The Law will improve the legal basis for ensuring information security and specify national defense and security requirements. It will address information security on three levels: cyber information violations, cyber information conflicts, and cyber warfare. Nguyen Huu Hung, a deputy for Tien Giang province, said: "I think the draft Law should include regulations on the rights and obligations of businesses and individuals providing public information across borders. A strict management of cryptography is of great necessity as it helps prevent cryptographic activities that could harm national security. Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA) and Korea Internet and Security Agency (KISA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost cooperation on IT and telecommunications. VINASA and KISA aim to beef up the cooperation in four fields of sharing and exchanging on policies of IT services development, business cooperation between the two countries' IT businesses, expanding cooperation in training and education for IT staff, especially in information security and organizing forums and seminars on IT development. Mr. Suh Jong Ryeol, KISA President said that KISA hoped the newly-signed MoU would start the new development in IT cooperation between RoK and Vietnam. VietNamNet Bridge - Mobile network operators have expressed their worries about the information security problems OTT (over the top content) app users may have. But how high is the risk? Some days ago, the representatives of VinaPhone and MobiFone, the two biggest mobile network operators, also voiced their concern about the inability of controlling OTT services, because the services have been mostly provided by foreign companies which don't set up servers in Vietnam. Nguyen Dang Nguyen, Deputy General Director of MobiFone, said a lot of people have been using OTT services to send spam ad messages to great numbers of other subscribers. It would be very dangerous, if someone uses the services for the security threat purpose. More and more network attacks have been reported recently, where hackers not only target the websites of organizations and businesses, but information security companies as well. Meanwhile, according to Ngo Viet Khoi from Trend Micro Vietnam, the awareness of Vietnamese businesses about the information security has been improved, but the investment is still much lower than needed. Thinking simple Khoi said that in mind of business managers, preventing malware means installing anti-virus software products in computers. Meanwhile, the way of thinking has become out of date, as hackers now carry out attacks under different modes, while the number of malware has increased rapidly. A survey by Trend Micro shows that in the last six months of 2011, the number of malicious codes on Android operation system alone increased by 1400 percent.
