Thanh Tung dropped his major in marketing after pursuing it for a year and realizing it was not the right path for him. But for several months after switching majors, he’d been suffering from anxiety and insomnia over the decision. "I went to bed late, woke up at around 3-4 a.m., and could not go back to sleep until the morning. I had negative thoughts and cried a lot." The young man said he worried that his new major was just another "wrong decision." He felt like he didn’t have the energy to do anything other than lie down and surf his social media feeds. But this habit only compounded the problem from another angle. "Seeing so many talented people around my age on social media made me feel inferior," he said. "I felt like no matter what I do, I would never be as successful as them." Other aspects of his life had also been affected, including his relationships. Just a delay in the speed of his girlfriend’s text message replies made him wonder if she was tired of him or had … [Read more...] about Vietnamese youth suffer from overthinking, anxiety

The “big piece of cake” is available There are about 2.1 billion Muslims globally. The yearly amount of money they spend is estimated at about USD 10 trillion. Most of Muslim tourists to the province come from the Middle East, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia with stable and strong financial resources and willingness to pay. According to experts, Islamic tourism, also known as Halal tourism is shifting to Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam. However, according to Ms. Tran Nu Ngoc Anh, an E.U. project expert, CEO of Dong A Hotel Group Joint Stock Company, to tap Islamic tourism, it requires tourist destinations, accommodation facilities, restaurants to have separate reception space and other facilities that meet their dietary needs, strict religious living habits, respect for different religious rituals, and separate reception times to avoid overlapping with reception times for other guests. The Nha Trang administration expects to collect the fees from the villa owners later. Vietnam’s tourism industry loses US$23 billion because of COVID-19
The Vietnam National Administraiton of Tourism (VNAT) estimates that the number of foreign travelers to Vietnam has been 3.7 million this year, a sharp fall of 80% compared with 2019. The number of domestic travelers is predicted to decrease by 50% despite a lot of sale promotion programs. However, COVID-19 offers an opportunity to reconsider the tourism market structure. Vietnam relies heavily on the northeastern market (China, Japan, the Republic of Korea and Taiwan) which brought 67% of total foreign travelers in 2019. In 2015-2019, Chinese and Korean travelers to Vietnam increased by 34%-40%. The two markets alone brought 10 million last year out of total 18 million foreign travelers. Meanwhile, travelers with high spending levels accounted for a small proportion. Travelers from European countries accounted for 12%, from the US 5.4%, and Oceania 2.4%. The heavy reliance on certain markets leads to huge losses when troubles like COVID-19 occur. In some localities, the … [Read more...] about Vietnam’s tourism industry loses US$23 billion because of COVID-19
