Le Huu Trac (1720-1791) was born in in Yen My district, northern Hung Yen province and spent most of his life in Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province. One of his great contributions to Vietnamese traditional medicine was the summarisation of the essence of human medicine and Vietnamese traditional medicine into voluminous texts, such as ‘Hai Thuong Y Tong Tam Linh’ (The comprehension of Hai Thuong on medicine), which is considered the encyclopedia of Vietnamese Traditional Medicine with thousands of recipes and hundreds of remedies. He was also a shining example of medical ethics. Nine articles in his ‘Y Huan Cach Ngon’ (Instructions on medical ethics) have been adopted as the ethical guideline and principles for medicine practice for Vietnamese physicians. Intangible cultural heritage project in schools sees initial success

Belgium Beer Culture recognized as UNESCO intangible cultural heritage
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) on November 30th recognized the Belgium Beer Culture. UNESCO appreciated measures to protect the beer culture. For example, efforts by a special monitoring centre that looks into the diversity of the art of brewing were important, as well as special attention to combating the excessive use of alcohol in Belgium. On its website, UNESCO recognizes that making and appreciating beer is part of the living heritage of a range of communities throughout Belgium, playing a role in daily life, as well as festive occasions. UNESCO acknowledges that almost 1,500 types of beer are produced in Belgium using different fermentation methods. folk music has been selected among 46 nominations to the Representative List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO)’s recognition as a World Intangible Cultural Heritage. The information was released at a press briefing at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France on November 18 to introduce the ninth session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, scheduled to be held from November 24-28. During the session, the Committee will examine the reports of States Parties on the implementation of the Convention and on the current status of elements inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the current status of elements inscribed on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding; and the use of international assistance from the Intangible Cultural Heritage Fund.
