PANO - The Vietnam ICT Press Club announced the 2015 top ten domestic information technology events at a ceremony on December 28th in Hanoi. Accordingly, the organizing panel selected 10 events from 19 nominees, which were introduced by 50 IT journalists nationwide. The release of Bphone by BKAV Corporation stood the first position, followed by the National Assembly's approval of the draft law on cyber information safety; the establishment of the three new companies and the restructuring of VNPT (Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications); the Government's Resolutions 36A on e-government building; the military-run telecom group Viettel's experiment of the 4G service; the Government joining the Facebook community; the 11-digit mobile subscriber changed to the 10-digit ones; the three mobile networks' releasing of OTT service; the television digitalization in Da Nang City; and the visit of the Google CEO to Vietnam. The United States is providing $380,000 over two years so that disabled Vietnamese people can learn the skills needed to find highly paid jobs in Viet Nam's growing IT market. The Information Technology Training Program is being run by the Ha Noi College of Information Technology with support from Catholic Relief Services, and will train up to 375 vision-, hearing- and mobility-impaired students in skills that should lead to good jobs in Viet Nam's information technology industry. In a dedication ceremony held today, U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission Jonathan Aloisi noted the ongoing partnership between the United States and Viet Nam in assisting the disabled.
