On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), the VN-Index increased 1.27 per cent, to 1,218.10 points. The benchmark increased 1.46 per cent, to close Tuesday at 1,202.82 points. The index closed one point higher after losing over 20 points Thursday. It gained over 13 points this week. Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) increased by 0.81 percent to VND11.42 trillion ($490.49 million). The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 18 tickers gain, led by SSI of leading brokerage SSI Securities Corporation with a 4.8 percent rise. It was followed by three banks: BID of state-owned lender BIDV gained 4.6 percent, CTG of state-owned lender VietinBank rose 3.1 percent and STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank went up 2.3 percent. 10 blue chips fell, with GAS of state-owned Petrovietnam Gas and MSN of conglomerate Masan Group both losing 2.2 percent. The index surged 19.61 points, or 1.68 per cent, to 1,188.88 points. The market's breadth returned to a positive zone with 318 stocks gaining points, of which 50 stocks hit the biggest daily increase of 7 per cent, while 153 stocks declined. However, liquidity remained at a low level, of which the matching value on the southern bourse was just VND8.86 trillion (US$381 million), equal to a matching volume of 380 million shares. VN-Index strengthens by more than 15 points, backed by banking stocks
The benchmark started the morning trading session not so smoothly when the demand still hesitated, while the holders were ready to push sell orders when they saw that stocks reached their expected price levels. The cautiousness of both sides made the VN-Index go down slightly in the ATO session. The market continuously shook in the morning trading session when both the buyers and sellers failed to show their superior on the electric board. The market only improved in the afternoon trading session when buy orders above the reference price unexpectedly poured into the group of banking stocks. The green color from the most important stock group in the market was the driving force, helping change the color of the remaining large-cap stocks in the VN30 basket. The index closed 3.2 points lower after losing over 41 points this week. Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange fell by 15.6 percent to VND13.31 trillion ($572.7 million). The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 15 tickers gain, with SSI of leading brokerage SSI Securities and STB of HCMC-based lender Sacombank closing at ceiling prices. They gained 6.9 and 6.8 percent, respectively. Three bank stocks, TCB of Techcombank, MBB of MBBank and VPB of VPBank, followed, rising 4.4 to 5.5 percent. The index closed three points lower after gaining nearly 20 points Thursday. It has lost nearly 32 points this week. Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 0.2 percent to VND10.18 trillion ($437.71 million). The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 14 tickers drop. POW of electricity producer Petrovietnam Power Corporation fell 2.5 percent, while GAS of state-owned Petrovietnam Gas dropped 2.4 percent. VN-Index edges close to 1,200 points
Shares were mixed on Friday morning, with the market benchmark VN-Index rising slightly as some large-cap stocks faced correction. On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), the VN-Index increased 4.46 points, or 0.38 per cent, to 1,193.34 points. The market's breadth was positive, while liquidity was up compared to the previous session but remained at low levels. Accordingly, the matching value on the southern bourse climbed by 9 per cent to more than VND4.8 trillion (US$207.5 million).
