In January 2023 alone, the number of foreign tourists to the Southeast Asian nation reached more than 871,000, up 44% year-on-year. The official said that Vietnam has a variety of tourism products. Vietnam State Treasury to raise US$17 billion through Gov’t bonds in 2023
Government bond is an important source of revenue for the state budget and supports the development of the capital market. ASEAN strengthens joint promotion activities for tourism recovery

The 2019 ASEAN Tourism Forum Travel Exchange (Travex), which will be held in Quang Ninh province on January 16 - 18, 2019. The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has called for local travel agents’ registration for Travex 2019. Accordingly, the travel exchange will feature 450 pavilions of ASEAN nations, including 100 booths of host Vietnam. Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh province. Coast Guard seizes 500kg of ivory smuggled into Vietnam from Nigeria
The ivory, which was mixed in together with a batch of cow horn, was imported from Nigeria to Lach Huyen Port in Hai Phong. Nguyen Huu Dung, a customs official in Hai Phong, said when screening the cow horn, customs officers had detected abnormal signs. As a result, they used specialized tools to check the shipment more carefully and found the hidden ivory. Major General Vu Trung Kien, deputy commander of Vietnam’s Coast Guard, said signs of a ring trading and smuggling ivory from Nigeria to Vietnam had emerged since mid-October last year and the Coast Guard tightened inspections since then. The Coast Guard and police are investigating the ring further. Vietnam outlawed the ivory trade in 1992, but the country remains a top market for the product, which is prized for decorative and medicinal purposes, according to conservation groups. Strong figures for FDI in January
According to the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA), under the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), close to $1.7 billion worth of foreign capital poured into Vietnam last month. While this figure was down 19.8 per cent on-year, partly due to the timing of the Lunar New Year, January still saw positive signs. Some 153 new foreign-invested projects, valued at $1.2 billion, were granted licences, up 48.5 per cent in number and 3.1 times in value compared to the same period last year. “We can consider this a signal confirming the confidence of overseas financiers to expand their interests in Vietnam,” said Do Nhat Hoang, director of the FIA.
