A Vietnamese eleventh grader has completed creating an electric vehicle that has basic parts of an ordinary car and can carry two people at the maximum speed of 40 kilometers per hour. The 400-kilogram automobile, which harks back to the vintage Volkswagen Beetle design, was made by Ngo Viet Cuong, a student at Tong Van Tran High School in Nam Dinh Province, near Hanoi. Cuong has been interested in playing with engines and mechanical equipment since he was a little kid. His father, Ngo Van Ngoc, said the son had fun with new toys only for a few days before taking them apart and putting them back together. The child also tried fitting machine parts into tools he found in his father’s automobile repair shop. When Cuong grew older, he learned the basic workings of automobile engines while helping his father with sundry jobs in the garage. In grade ten, the student told his parents that he wanted to make a car of his own but … [Read more...] about Vietnamese eleventh grader builds VW Beetle-style electric car

Developers expect smoother LNG policy planning
The input price of imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) fluctuates between 15-20 cents/kW while the saleable electricity price is currently 6-7 cents/kW only. This will be an obstacle in the future because Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) will have to buy high and sell low. Despite the mandatory use of the standard form wholesale market power purchase agreement (PPA), complete with untenable fuel cost pass-through clauses being imposed on would-be LNG project sponsors, the market will never accept the proposition. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh questioned why the latest draft of the Power Development Plan VIII (PDP8) seeks to effectively block any new solar power projects until 2030, since “solar power costs are getting cheaper and cheaper, and energy storage battery technology is becoming more advanced at more acceptable pricing”. The LNG gas power project is scheduled to start construction in the second quarter of 2022 According to calculations by the Ministry of … [Read more...] about Developers expect smoother LNG policy planning

VN-Index strengthens by more than 15 points, backed by banking stocks
The benchmark started the morning trading session not so smoothly when the demand still hesitated, while the holders were ready to push sell orders when they saw that stocks reached their expected price levels. The cautiousness of both sides made the VN-Index go down slightly in the ATO session. The market continuously shook in the morning trading session when both the buyers and sellers failed to show their superior on the electric board. The market only improved in the afternoon trading session when buy orders above the reference price unexpectedly poured into the group of banking stocks. The green color from the most important stock group in the market was the driving force, helping change the color of the remaining large-cap stocks in the VN30 basket. At the end of the trading session, the VN-Index gained by 15.28 points, or 1.27 percent, to 1,218.1 points. Of the index, 326 stocks emerged, 53 remained unchanged, and 136 sank.
