This was the focus of the Supporting Industry Forum 2019, held in Ho Chi Minh City on December 13. Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai said leather-footwear is one of the key exporting industries of Vietnam. With an annual export growth rate of over 10 percent, the industry earned the country approximated 20 billion USD in 2018 and over 10 billion USD in the first half of 2019. The Vietnam Leather, Footwear and Handbag Association (Lefaso) forecast this year’s leather-footwear exports at some 21.5 billion USD, up 10 percent from 2018. Vietnamese footwear has been shipped to more than 100 countries, including 50 with imports worth over 1 million USD from Vietnam. Ca Mau develops eco-tourism tourism
Seeing tourism as a spearhead economy in the near future, Ca Mau is working to promote renowned tourist attractions and local typical products, including eco-tourism, community-based tourism, among both domestic and foreign visitors. Tours to the Ca Mau Cape National Park is among key tourism products of the province, giving tourists an opportunity to experience the diversity of the tropical mangrove forest in the UNESCO-recognised Ramsar Biosphere Reserve. The local authorities have paid due attention to building cooperative brands for local typical products like Rach Goc dried shrimp, Nam Can crab, Hang Vinh shrimp crackers and Thoi Binh fish sauce. Government plans to have 100,000 enterprises in agriculture by 2030
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has signed a Resolution covering solutions to encourage and foster investment in sustainable and safe development of agriculture. Photo: VGP The Resolution aims to untap huge potential of the country’s agricultural sector, especially land and human resources. The Government plans to increase the number of enterprises effectively investing in agriculture to 80,000-100,000 by 2030. Of the total, around 3,000-4,000 are large-scale businesses, the Resolution reads. The Government also sets the goals to maintain growth rate of agriculture, forestry and aquaculture at 3% annually meanwhile the export value of agriculture, forestry and aquaculture is expected to increase by 6%-8% annually.
