After two killer storms, Viet Nam is now threatened with a third, Higos, which is expected to enter the EastSea today. However, late reports say it is weakening. Five people died, 13 people were injured and 14 others are still missing in central Viet Nam due to Storm Mekkhala, which ended yesterday. Another 26 died in Storm Hagupit last week. Experts predict that at 1pm today, Higos (named after a Fig in the native language of Guam Island) will be at a latitude of 15.8 degrees north and a longitude of 117 degree east, with a wind strength of 75-82km per hour. They expect will head north-west at 10-15km per hour and gain in strength till it is 60km from the east coast of Chinese Hainan Island with winds reaching 103-133km per hour on Saturday. Launched in Vietnam in February 2014, McDonald’s Vietnam currently has 16 restaurants, all in Ho Chi Minh City. The plan to expand its operation to Hanoi was prepared by Good Day Hospitality in early 2016, after its annual growth rate was doubled from 2014. However, till date, there are no McDonald’s restaurants in Hanoi or northern provinces. Drug smuggling ring brought to light Ho Chi Minh City police announced they have smashed a gang trafficking drugs from China.
