In 2022, Sembcorp launched a new smart and sustainable VSIP and obtained a licence for our 12th VSIP, to be developed in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho. Northwest Vietnam is benefiting from a project worth US$24 million to mainly develop community-based economic models. On October 3, 2022, the ministry released Circular 15, which sets out a framework for the Viet Nam Electricity (EVN) to enter into tariff negotiations with developers of transitional solar and wind energy projects by reference to some specific ceiling prices. On January 7, 2023, the ministry set the ceiling prices at VND1,184.90 (5.05 cents) per kWh for ground-mounted solar projects, VND1,508.27 (6.43 cents) for floating solar projects, VND1,587.12 (6.77 cents) for onshore wind projects, and VND1,815.95 (7.75 cents) for offshore wind projects. Last year, Viet Nam exported $5.55 billion worth of goods to Australia, a year-on-year increase of 26 per cent while its imports from the market saw a yearly hike of 27.3 per cent to $10.14 billion. Vietnamese export items posting high growth amid various challenges included iron and steel (103 per cent); electric wires and cables (81 per cent); coffee (63 per cent); machinery, equipment, tools, and other spare parts (62 per cent) besides footwear (41 per cent); aquatic products (37 per cent); textiles (26 per cent); handbags, suitcases and umbrellas (25 per cent). I have arrived here at a fortunate time. Vietnam, like Australia, has emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic with both its reputation and its economy intact. The pandemic was, in fact, an opportunity to increase cooperation between Australia and Vietnam, with the embassy donating more than 26 million vaccine doses, 2,000 refrigeration units, and many other medical supplies. Australia’s Victoria state pins hope on Vietjet’s launch of flights

Pallas said the presence of a carrier from Southeast Asia is a victory for Victoria's economy and brings job opportunities to the locality, reflecting the state’s tourism and export strengths. Vietjet will run three direct weekly flights from HCM City to Melbourne from April and will develop it into a daily service from December 2024. Its flights are expected to bring more than 136,000 passengers to Melbourne each year and add US$97 million annually to the state's economy.
