Danes promote provincial businesses (04-06-2005) Tomorrow, June 5, is Denmark's Constitution Day. Viet Nam News discussed its importance with the country's ambassador to Ha Noi, Peter Lysholt Hansen. How do Danes celebrate their National Day? For Danes, Constitution Day is a symbol of the values imbedded in our constitution that dates to 1849. It guarantees the civil rights of all Danes and clearly defines the roles and responsibilities of the government, parliament and judiciary. On the day, most public offices and educational institutions are closed. All over the country there will be public gatherings where representatives of the government and the political parties will meet their constituents to both celebrate and discuss the different contemporary issues that Danes think important. Rodney Todd, British, UK In the short term, I would brand Ha Noi as a city of warmth, with open friendly people. Perhaps I have been lucky but as I leave after my first visit here, these are the thoughts I will take away. He is also a public speaker and promotes locally made goods on a television programme aired by the Business Studies and Assistance Centre (BSA). The global recession in 2008 caused many difficulties for Vietnamese enterprises. Some even went bankrupt, leading to thousands of workers getting laid off.
