Hanoi International Film Festival to return in Q4
Vietnamese and international viewers will enjoy the unique works of worldwide cinema industries. The sixth Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF) will make a comeback and is scheduled to take place in Hanoi between November 8 and 12, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. After a two-year hiatus due to the Covíd-19 outbreak, the new context of safe and flexible adaptation to the pandemic makes its 6th edition this year a special one, the ministry said, authorizing the Vietnam Cinematography Department and relevant agencies to organize the event. Defense ministry to hold scientific seminar reviewing Tay Bac Victory
At the conference, the Steering Board agreed to choose the theme of the seminar as “The Northwestern Victory in 1952 - Historical stature and lessons learned.” The seminar is scheduled to take place in mid-October in Yen Bai city, Yen Bai province. Up to now, the Institute of Military History, the standing organ of the Steering Committee, has collaborated with relevant units and agencies to prepare for the seminar. Particularly, they have ordered 90 speeches from participants, prepared accommodations and ensure transportation for delegates, and so on. Vietnam ranks third at ASEAN Para Games 2022
It was the highest number of medals Vietnam has ever achieved since it hosted the Games in 2003. The Vietnamese team initially set a target to gain 35 – 40 gold medals at the regional games. Vietnam has broken 16 records this year, 14 of which were in swimming. Swimmer Vi Thi Hang set three new records, the highest among Vietnamese athletes, in the women’s 50m freestyle, 100m breaststroke and 100m freestyle. Swimmers Vo Huynh Anh Khoa, Le Thi Dung, Trinh Thi Bich Nhu and Do Thanh Hai broke two records each. The remaining two records were set by weightlifters Chau Hoang Tuyet Loan and Dang Thi Linh Phuong. Swimmers also earned most of the gold medals (27) for the Vietnamese team this year. A poor woman in the southern province of Soc Trang is taking care of two sons who are facing osteogenesis imperfect, but the family can’t afford the treatment. Dang Thi Loc, 55, in Ke Sach District’s Trinh Phu Commune said that her eldest son Vo Tan Dat who is now 32 years old, faced unusual health problems when he was just over a year old. Spanish judge returns passport to Vietnamese accused of raping adolescent
The two men had been arrested for two months. The Investigating Court of Palma, Majorca, Spain, has returned passports to two Vietnamese men who were accused of raping a minor on the island at the end of June. The court, which is investigating the alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl in a hotel in Andratx, decided on August 3 to return their passports and they have already returned to their country originally, according to Spanish Ultima Hora. The two men, one 37-year-old and one 42 and were famous, were released without bail but their passports were confiscated after they were arrested. Both took advantage of their right not to testify before the magistrate. According to Spanish media, the two defendants and the girl on June 25 struck up a conversation, drank together, and ended up on the beach where they began to get intimate.
