China hotel, catering job openings surge on post-Covid demand recovery: survey
During the first six days of work after China's Lunar New Year holiday, job openings in the hotel and catering sectors surged 40% from the same period a year earlier, according to a survey published on Friday by Zhaopin, one of the county's biggest recruitment firms. Passenger vehicle and freight truck drivers and airplane and train crews are also badly needed, with job openings jumping by 85.2% over the same period, due to busy transport and logistics sectors following China's post-Covid reopening. Openings in tourism services industry grew 58.9% on the abandonment of the zero-Covid regime as well as on resurgent demand during the festival season, while posting for workers in the manufacturing sector also rose 42.2%. Work starts on $23.5mn bridge linking Hai Phong to Quang Ninh in northern Vietnam
Authorities in Hai Phong City, northern Vietnam began construction of a bridge to create the fourth linkage of its kind with neighboring Quang Ninh Province on Thursday. Investment in the project, which includes building the Lai Xuan Bridge across the Da Bach River and expanding Provincial Road 352 to connect Hai Phong’s Thuy Nguyen District with Dong Trieu Town in Quang Ninh, totals nearly VND1.33 trillion (US$56.93 million). Of the total, nearly VND550 billion ($23.45 million) is dedicated to the construction of the Lai Xuan Bridge, which will be 840 meters long and 12 meters wide upon completion. Eco-friendly Nigerian artist turns plastic flip-flops into portraits
Eugene Komboye, a Nigerian artist, is turning discarded plastic flip-flop sandals into colourful portraits in an effort to help clean up the environment in a country where plastic pollution is prevalent. What started as an assignment in college in 2017, has become a full time job for Komboye, whose studio in the city of Abeokuta in the southwest state of Ogun now trains aspiring artists who want to follow in his footsteps and create flip-flop portraits. Nigeria produces at least 2.5 million tonnes of plastic waste annually, according to government figures, with some of it finding its way into the ocean and rivers. Flip-flops are the footwear of choice for many Nigerians and Komboye, 30, sources his material mostly from dump sites, landfills and river banks. HCM City to face high tides
HCM City has been forecasted to see two high tide fronts this month, according to the Southern Hydrometeorological Observatory. The centre said that the high tides would occur in the middle and end of this month. The high tides in HCM City Last month, the highest tides were measured in Phu An and Nha Be areas with the water level 4cm higher than the 10cm during the same period of last year. HCM City often experiences high tides which cause serious flooding for many local areas. It is common to see many local streets to be turned into rivers due to high tides. Biggest spring blood donation event to kick off on February 6
According to the organizer – the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (NIHBT), at the one-week event, donors can visit one of the seven venues in Hanoi - including the institute, agricultural general hospital, and the People’s Committee headquarters of Trau Quy town. A total of 100,615 blood units were collected after the past 15 editions of the campaign. Nearly 4,000 business establishments to use e-invoices from cash registers

General Department of Taxation (GDT) at a meeting co-organised by the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and the Ministry of Public Security (MoPS) on the matter in Hanoi on February 3. According to Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc, the rollout of e-invoices generated from cash registers aims to prevent revenue losses and improve compliance.
