Border gates are sked to be strictly controlled to prevent monkeypox outbreak. Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long asked local healthcare facilities to coordinate with the Institutes of Hygiene and Epidemiology and Pasteur Institute to diagnose monkeypox cases and strengthen prevention and control measures of monkeypox. The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed a rise in monkeypox cases in several countries. The first case of monkeypox was reported in the UK on May 13. At least 92 monkeypox virus cases have been confirmed in countries, including the US, the UK, Germany, Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Sweden and others. No deaths have been reported; about 28 cases in these countries are potential cases. One of the Monkeypox symptoms and signs is skin rash. Vietnam tightens entry surveillance over fears of Monkeypox

According to WHO, Monkeypox is a viral zoonosis (a virus transmitted to humans from animals) with symptoms similar to those seen in the past in smallpox patients, although it is clinically less severe. Vietnam’s Ministry of Health (MoH) has asked localities to ramp up surveillance in border areas for controlling possible cases of monkeypox, which has reportedly spread to at least 12 countries worldwide. The ministry has also requested functional units to carefully monitor the status of monkeypox to prevent the disease from being imported into Vietnam, while continuously working with the World Health Organization (WHO) to timely update the status of this disease, along with response measures. Vietnam closely monitors people returning from 12 countries with monkeypox Accordingly, to promptly implement measures to prevent and minimize the number of cases and deaths, the Department of Preventive Medicine suggested that health departments in provinces and cities focus on strengthening surveillance to detect suspected cases at the border, especially those returning from monkeypox endemic countries including Benin, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and South Sudan. Another molnupiravir drug authorized for use in COVID-19 treatment
