A Vietnam Airlines aircraft (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam Airlines Group , which comprises Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and Vietnam Air Services Company ( VASCO ), has announced that to meet travel demand in the summer travel season, it will offer more than 7.3 million seats on domestic and international routes from June 1 to August 8. In the peak period of these months, there will be nearly 500 flights operated by the group per day, 30% greater than usual level. The busiest routes are those connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with popular destinations such as Da Nang, Hue, Quy Nhon, Nha Trang, Da Lat and Phu Quoc as well as linking Vietnam to Japan, the Republic of Korea, Thailand. Doctors at Lam Dong General Hospital in the eponymous province in Vietnam's Central Highlands region successfully performed surgery to save a worker who suffered an occupational accident resulting in two iron bars piercing through his abdomen up to the shoulder earlier this week. The hospital announced on Tuesday that the worker, 27-year-old Ngo Xuan Q., living in Lam Dong’s Da Lat City, still requires vigilant observation to avoid any potential complexities arising from organ injuries despite surviving the critical phase. Ten transport projects to be launched in second quarter
These projects include some important routes, such as Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot, Bien Hoa-Vung Tau, Belt Road No.3 of Ho Chi Minh City , and the Belt Road No.4 of the Capital Region. The ministry reported that it has so far approved the investment policy for 59 transport project s using public investment capital for the 2021-2025 period. Among them, 41 have had their investment project approved. For the 18 remaining projects, 11 are scheduled to be approved in the second quarter, six in the third quarter and one in the fourth quarter, the ministry said. Within this year, the ministry plans to start construction of 28 projects and finish 29 others. 1 killed, 2 injured as truck hits vehicles at red light in southern Vietnam
One man died and at least two others were injured after a truck slammed into multiple motorcycles which were stopping at a red light in Binh Duong Province, southern Vietnam on Tuesday evening. The fatal crash took place on a My Phuoc-Tan Van Road section in the provincial city of Thuan An at around 7:00 pm, when the truck was en route from Thuan An Hoa Street to My Phuoc-Tan Van Road. The truck driver was identified as Ha Dinh Be, 43, residing in the provincial city of Tan Uyen. At the scene of the accident, three damaged motorcycles were found lying in front of the truck. One of the victims, identified as Tran Chi Cuong, 20, a native of northern Nam Dinh Province, was crushed to death by the truck. Meanwhile, Mai Van Han, 36, residing in Binh Duong, and Pham Ngoc Thuy, 43, a native of north-central Quang Binh Province, were injured and rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Ho Chi Minh City’s economic growth projected at 5.87 percent in Q2
Ho Chi Minh City’s economic growth will be more positive this quarter with the gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth estimated at 5.87 percent, well above the modest 0.7 percent last quarter, chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Phan Van Mai said during a group discussion on Tuesday at the ongoing National Assembly (NA) sitting. With this result, the city may achieve an economic growth rate of 3.55 percent in the first half of the year, chairman Mai cited statistics from the General Statistics Office as saying at a group discussion on a draft resolution on piloting breakthrough policies for Ho Chi Minh City. The city’s industry and construction sector was forecast to improve 4.77 percent this quarter and 0.8 percent in the first half of the year as a whole. The sector fell 3.6 percent last quarter.
