3 hospitalized due to botulinum poisoning in Ho Chi Minh City
Three more people in Ho Chi Minh City have been hospitalized due to botulinum poisoning after two of them, who are siblings, ate cha lua (Vietnamese pork sausage) and the remaining man consumed fermented fish kept for a long time. Cho Ray Hospital and Gia Dinh People's Hospital are jointly treating the three cases, Dr. Le Quoc Hung, head of the tropical disease department at the former hospital, said on Saturday. The three patients live in Thu Duc City under Ho Chi Minh City. The two siblings, aged 18 and 26, ate bread with cha lua sold by a street vendor, while the remaining patient, a 45-year-old man, downed fermented fish on May 13. They developed the symptoms of digestive disorder, fatigue, headache, dizziness, and diarrhea the next day and became worse later with muscle weakness, dysphagia, and diplopia. Visits to Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum suspended for annual maintenance
Hanoi's historic Ba Dinh Square has been closed to tourists from June 12 to August 14. Visits to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum will be temporarily suspended for annual maintenance and renovation work, according to the management of the historic relics site. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has proposed banning sleeper buses from entering the inner-city area around the clock instead of between 6:00 am and 10:00 pm every day. Sleeper buses will be prohibited from traveling into the inner city area bounded by National Highway No. 1 – Nguyen Van Linh Street – Vo Chi Cong Street – Nguyen Thi Dinh Street – Dong Van Cong Street – Mai Chi Tho Boulevard – Hanoi Highway – National Highway 1. The department has issued a report on the implementation of the ban on sleeper buses from entering the inner-city area from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm every day. Additional capital repeatedly sought for cash-strapped metro line operator in Ho Chi Minh City
The administration of Ho Chi Minh City has written to the Ministry of Finance urgently seeking additional capital allocation for the financially-distressed Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway No. 1 Company Limited (HURC1), which will operate metro line No. 1 in the city. The metro line No. 1 , which links the iconic Ben Thanh Market in District 1 with Suoi Tien Theme Park in Thu Duc City, is slated for completion by the end of this year after several delays. The municipal government has repeatedly proposed relevant ministries and agencies take measures to address the financial distress facing the metro operator, but almost nothing has been done as yet. Some 300 drain covers along Ho Chi Minh City highway damaged for scrap
Some 300 drain covers along a Hanoi Highway section in Ho Chi Minh City were damaged by thieves taking steel for sale as scrap, a representative of the highway operator told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper. Nguyen Thanh Nam, deputy director of Hanoi Highway Construction and Investment JSC, said that the company sought support from the authorities of Thu Duc City, where the highway section is located, to seek and handle those damaging the infrastructure along the section. Vandal caught defacing downtown Ho Chi Minh City shop in CCTV footage
A video being shared on social media shows a man, who appears to be a foreigner, vandalizing the security door of a beverage shop in downtown Ho Chi Minh City. The CCTV of the shop, located on Le Thi Rieng Street in Ben Thanh Ward, District 1, captured the entire incident at 3:32 am on Sunday. In the footage later shared on social media, the vandal parked his scooter opposite the shop, walked toward it, and started spraying paint on its coiling security door.
