Airfares on routes to popular tourist destinations across Vietnam are skyrocketing for this year’s summer travel season. According to a recent survey conducted by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper, local air carriers plan to raise the prices of air tickets from mid-June to early August. Airfares for the Hanoi – Da Nang route will average VND3.5 million (US$150) per round trip, up VND1 million ($42.8) from the non-summer average. For the Ho Chi Minh City – Phu Quoc route, Vietjet will offer the lowest fare at VND2.5 million ($107) per round-trip ticket. Comparatively, airfares on the same route set by Pacific Airlines and Bamboo Airways will range from VND2.8 million ($120) to VND3.2 million ($137) per round trip.
