One of the two Indian Navy ships visits Ho Chi Minh City Representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the Navy army welcomed the two Indian navy ships. The INS Sahyadri is the third ship of the P17 class of stealthy guided-missile destroyers. The ship was designed in-house by the Indian Navy's Design Institute and built by Mazagaon Dock Company in Mumbai. Commissioned on July 21, 2012, the ship features a range of tailored weapons sensors that enable it to operate effectively in high-threat environments. A torrential rain accompanied by hail lashed Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in serious flooding and congestion on myriad streets. The heavy downpour was the result of the southwest monsoon, which has been picking up strength, according to Le Dinh Quyet, an official from the southern hydro-meteorological station. The Energy Observer, the world’s first hydrogen-powered and zero-emission vessel, is currently on a stopover in Ho Chi Minh City as part of its five-year global odyssey. The ship arrived at Khanh Hoi Port in District 4 on June 18 and is expected to stay in the southern Vietnamese metropolis until June 29. Two Indian naval ships, INS Sahyadri and INS Kadmatt, carrying more than 500 crew members arrived at Nha Rong Wharf on Friday, marking the start of a three-day friendship visit to Ho Chi Minh City. Vietjet has officially launched four more services linking top destinations of Vietnam and India including Ho Chi Minh City/Hanoi – Mumbai and Phu Quoc – New Delhi/Mumbai. The new routes’ launch ceremony was held in Mumbai during the visit of Ho Chi Minh City’s leaders to the Indian city as Vietnam and India mark their 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the budget airline said in a press release on Wednesday. The Phu Quoc – Mumbai route will operate four weekly flights every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, starting from September 8. The services between Phu Quoc and New Delhi will commence on September 9, with three weekly flights on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Dengue fever is entering its peak in Ho Chi Minh City this year, with the number of cases amounting to 2,181 just last week, up 38.5 percent from the prior four-week average, the city’s Center for Disease Control (HCDC) reported. The total includes 1,182 hospitalized cases and 999 outpatients, an increase of 25.9 percent and 57.1 percent, respectively, the HCDC said. The City Children’s Hospital received 74 child patients, including eight critical cases last week, while the corresponding figures at Children’s Hospitals 1 and 2 were 74 and 8, and 89 and 21, according to the Department of Health. The Ho Chi Minh City Hospital for Tropical Diseases treated 373 dengue fever cases in the same period, including 264 adults and 109 children, of which 45 were severe. The Vietnam Office of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has asked the Vietnamese government to consider promptly giving funds to Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railways No. 1 Company Limited (HURC 1), which is at risk of halting operation. In his recent letter to Tran Van Son, Minister-Chairman of the Government Office, Shimizu Akira, Chief Representative of the JICA Vietnam Office, mentioned some issues related to the city’s Metro Line No. 1, including the urgent need of providing a budget to HURC 1 so that it can maintain operations.
