Da Nang (VNA) - The 28th Informatics Olympiad for Students, the international programming contest (Procon) Vietnam and the 2019 International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Asia Da Nang Regional Contest concluded on December 6 after three days of competition. In the Informatics Olympiad, Le Minh Quang from the Hanoi University of Science and Technology overcame 80 rivals from provinces and cities across the country to win the trophy. Meanwhile, the Japanese team from Kyoto University of Japancame first in the ICPC Asia Regional Contest, which drew 112 teams from universities and colleges across Vietnam and 17 teams from regional countries. At the same time, the trophy of the Procon Vietnam, which saw the competition of 31 teams grouping 90 students from 17 universities, came to the University of Engineering and Technology under the Hanoi National University. Vietnam wins 3 gold medals at int’l math Olympiad
The Vietnamese team of six high school students won three gold medals, two silvers and a bronze at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) held in Cape Town, South Africa from July 3 to 13. The news was announced on Saturday by the exam department under the Ministry of Education and Training. Three gold medalists include Tran Hong Quan from Thai Binh High School in northern Thai Binh Province, Pham Tuan Huy from the special high school math training class of the Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City, and Nguyen The Hoan from the special high school math training class of the Vietnam National University - Hanoi. Vuong Nguyen Thuy Dung from Le Quy Don High School in central Da Nang City and Ho Quoc Dang Hung from the special high school math training class of the Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City grabbed two silver medals. HCM CITY — Last year, H, a HCM City resident, transferred a total of VNĐ10 billion (US$437,800) to a man she’d met on a social media website. The man, Jame, introduced himself as an American marine engineer based in the US. After getting to know each other, Jame promised he would marry H. and help her immigrate to the US. In March 2016, Jame told H. he was going to Malaysia to invest in a $4 million oil extraction project. He asked to borrow some money from H for five months, promising that he would give her $500,000 and come to Việt Nam to marry her after finishing the project. He never did. In July 2016, H. filed a complaint with the city police. Capital gets to taste Lao Cai province’s local specialties

The three-day event is part of efforts made by the province and Big C, Central Group Vietnam, to introduce safe and high-quality products from other regions to the capital city’s citizens, as well as helping promote “One Community One Product” (OCOP) programme and grow local businesses and farmers. On display are 45 OCOP products certified with three to five stars such as Seng Cu rice, Tham Duong glutinous rice, sausages, dried pork, smoked buffalo meat, cabbages, chayote, kohlrabi, mushrooms, Muong Khuong chili sauce, dried bamboo shoots, medicinal herbs, tea, wine, vermicelli and smoke salmon. Vietnam wins three golds at 50th International Physics Olympiad

(Photo courtesy of the Ministry of Education and Training) The gold medalists are Tran Xuan Tung, a student at Hanoi-Amsterdam High School, Nguyen Xuan Ung from University of Science’s High School for Gifted Students under Vietnam National University, Hanoi and Nguyen Khanh Linh from Thanh Hoa province's Lam Son High School. The silver medal winners are Le Viet Hoang from Bien Hoa High School for Gifted Students in Ha Nam province and Trinh Duy Hieu from Bac Giang High School for Gifted Students in the northern province of Bac Giang.
