A restaurant in Nha Trang, a coastal city in south-central Vietnam, has been fined over US$900 after being accused of charging customers $26 for three servings of beef pan-fried noodles. Nha Trang authorities have issued a fine of VND21 million ($902) to Ngoc Phu Seafood Restaurant for operating without a food safety and hygiene certificate, and for failing to clearly list dish prices, Phan Thanh Liem, deputy chairman of the city’s administration, said on Saturday. The fining followed a report from a team that inspected Ngoc Phu after a rip-off allegation was posted on social media against this restaurant, located on Tran Phu Street. After suffering severe burns across his face as a child, Ngo Quy Hai, a 27-year-old from Vietnam’s Central Highlands, has managed to shed the physical and emotional burden of his injury and become the successful owner of Sunhouse Coffee – a well-known pastry shop in Plei Kan Town, Ngoc Hoi District, Kon Tum Province. Hai burned his face when he was just a few months old after falling out of a walker and landing face first on a boiling pot of porridge. His parents rushed him to Children’s Hospital No. 1 in Ho Chi Minh City where he received medical treatment for almost two years. While doctors at the hospital were able to save Hai’s life, his injuries left him so scary that other children refused to play with him. Many Vietnamese airlines have proposed that the ceiling prices of domestic air tickets be further increased or removed as they have suffered heavy losses due to wildly soaring fuel costs. Even though air tickets have been rising, even higher than before the COVID-19 pandemic, carriers argued that they have to make up for relentlessly rising fuel expenses. Round-trip airfares of economy class for the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route are fluctuating around VND3-5 million (US$129-214) per ticket and those for business class are VND8-17 million ($343-729), an increase of 20-50 percent compared to periods with passenger shortages due to the COVID-19 pandemic. "Two Vietnamese males have been arrested by police of Mallorca Island over sexual assault allegations. One was born in 1980, the other in 1984," said a spokesman of the Mallorca police department. The spokesman however refused to provide their identities and occupations. The men’s identity and occupations were not revealed, but local reports said they were an actor and a musician.
