Hanoi (VNA) – The US’s experience in environmental management and air quality control in Vietnam were touched upon at a seminar in Hanoi on January 25. The event, themed “Solving the air quality crisis: from the US to Vietnam,” was jointly held by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), the environmental protection agency under the Hanoi Department of Natural Resources and Environment, and Live & Learn Centre. Dr. Le Bich Thuy from the Hanoi University of Science and Technology pointed out the harmful impact of air pollution on human health and life, and called for joint efforts to find suitable measures to tackle the problem. Vietnam records one imported COVID-19 case
Hanoi (VNA) – One more COVID-19 infection was recorded in Vietnam on January 25, raising the total to 1,549, according to the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control. The new case returned to Vietnam from Indonesia on January 10, and was quarantined upon her arrival at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport. Among the total, 693 cases were transmitted domestically. Additional 14 patients were given the all-clear on January 25, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,425. Among patients undergoing treatment at medical establishments across the country, eight tested negative for the coronavirus once, eight others twice and 11 thrice. Gov’t continues legal assistance to SMEs
Hanoi (VNA) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has recently approved a legal assistance program for small-and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the 2021-2025 period. The programme aims to promote awareness and sense of legal compliance and reduce legal risks and obstacles of SMEs that account for majority of the country’s total businesses, the Vietnam Government Portal (VGP News) reported. Under the programme, ministries, agencies and localities shall have to update policies and legal assistance programs for SMEs, collect all feedbacks regarding legal obstacles from SMEs and report to competent authorities for refining legal regulations. Legal assistance shall be conduct in a diverse manner, including direct and indirect forms such as forums and dialogues as well as via various platforms. Cambodia to have trade, labour courts by this year’s end
Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodia’s Minister of Justice Koeut Rith has directed the formation of two committees to begin the process of establishing separate courts for commercial and labour disputes, Phnom Penh Post reported on January 25. According to two decision letters issued on January 21, the committees are comprised of 20 members from the justice ministry, the Supreme Council of Magistracy, government delegates, the heads of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court and Appeal Court, and some other relevant officials. To prepare for the establishment of the commercial and labour courts, these two committees’ members have been asked to prepare documentation and legal briefs to determine each court’s relationship to the lower courts and the higher courts, including the Appeal Court and Supreme Court.
