The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council on Tuesday decided to source over VND4.3 trillion (US$176.1 million) from its budget to purchase medical equipment for three hospitals at its gateways. Of the total, the Thu Duc Regional General Hospital will receive over VND1.45 trillion ($59.5 million); Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital, over VND1.49 trillion ($61.1 million); and Cu Chi Regional General Hospital, some VND1.36 trillion ($55.8 million). The city will purchase the equipment between 2023 and 2025. The plan to acquire medical equipment for these hospitals is vital to ensure that they will have sufficient equipment after being put into operation. Sunny Group to build $150-million factory in Nghe An
The new Sunny Automotive Optech Vina project will be developed over 43 hectares in WHA Industrial Zone 1 in Nghe An . The factory will specialise in producing cameras for both mobile phones and vehicles, as well as other electronic devices. The factory is slated to go into operation in the fourth quarter of 2025, and once completed, is expected to generate jobs for 20,000 people. Sunny Group has been researching and exploring the investment site in Nghe An since July 2023. After two months, the Chinese group decided to make an investment in the locality. In March 2023, Sunny shared its plan to invest up to $2.5 billion in the northern province of Thai Nguyen, which is expected to generate $5 billion in annual revenue and create jobs for 15,000 local people. US employers to see biggest healthcare cost jump in a decade in 2024
Benefit consultants from Mercer, Aon and Willis Towers Watson see employer healthcare costs jumping 5.4% to 8.5% in 2024 due to medical inflation, soaring demand for costly weight-loss drugs and wider availability of high-priced gene therapies. A survey conducted by Mercer, a unit of Marsh McLennan, found over two thirds of employers either do not plan to shift any cost increase to their staff or will pass on less than the expected rise in 2024. "They don't want to add more financial stress on employees who are also coping with inflation, especially in this time where they're really relying on their health benefits as a way to keep employees working for them," said Beth Umland, Mercer's director of health & benefits research. However, it was placed higher than South Korea (50th), Cambodia (52nd), China (62nd) and Myanmar (75th) in the region.
