Modest bank growth projected this year

Vietcombank was the first bank with equity exceeding $4.26 billion by the end of 2021. In 2022, four more banks achieved this figure – Techcombank, Vietinbank, VPBank, and BIDV. In 2022, the charter capital of many banks saw a significant increase, with some banks even recording a vast increase in charter capital. At the same time, banks continue to improve their capital adequacy ratio and apply international standards in risk management. More than 20 banks have applied Basel II standards. Notably, many banks have successfully applied Basel III with more stringent requirements, such as TPBank, ACB, VPBank, SeABank, NamABank, and OCB. VN-Index breaks winning streak

The index closed 14.53 points lower after gaining 9.02 points on Friday. Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) increased by 22.75% to VND13.63 trillion ($581.24 million). The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 22 tickers dropped. ACB of Asia Commercial Bank dropped 3.6%, followed by VHM of property giant Vinhomes with a 3.4% fall. VCB of state-owned lender Vietcombank went down 3.3% while STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank dropped 3%. Six blue chips gained, led by HDB of HDBank with 3.1% rise. HPG of steelmaker Hoa Phat Group and POW of electricity producer Petrovietnam Power Corporation both went up 1.2%. Foreign investors were net buyers to the tune of VND745.53 billion.
