Hanoi reopens indoor eateries and cafes

The Hanoitimes - Hanoi allows the reopening of indoor eateries and cafes after the capital city underwent 14 days without new coronavirus infections in the community. The Hanoi authorities have allowed the reopening of indoor eateries and cafes from March 2 after two weeks have passed without local transmission of novel coronavirus. Photo: Kinhtedothi.vn However, bars and karaoke lounges, internet and online game stores, street eateries and cafes need to stay shut, Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Chu Xuan Dung said at a meeting on March 1 afternoon. Besides, customers must maintain a 1m safe distance and must obey all the Covid-19 prevention protocols, Dung said, adding that catering businesses must use QR CODE software and strictly comply with the city’s directives. Regarding religious monuments, the vice chairman assigned the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports and local authorities in districts to check and prepare the pandemic prevention plans when the municipal government decides to reopen in a few days. Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Xuan Dung also warned local authorities of the pandemic risk when students come back to school. “The Ministry of Education and Training has also directed universities and colleges to be self-sufficient in terms of time, and online schooling can be still applied. Hanoi has recommended that these educational institutions should let students back to school after March 18 for best control," Dung said. Vietnam has registered 2,448 cases of novel coronavirus carriers, of them 1,876 recovered and 35 deceased so far. …

Hanoi reopens indoor dining with Covid-19 restrictions

Municipal Vice Chairman Chu Xuan Dung said Monday that restaurants and coffee shops must have dividers between seats or ensure that customers are one meter apart from each other. He also urged these establishments to encourage takeaways. Non-essential services like discotheques, bars, clubs, karaoke parlors, and outdoor coffee or tea stalls will remain closed until further notice, he said. Hanoi had banned the operation of restaurants, street tea stalls and cafes on Feb. 16. Khong Minh Tuan, deputy director of the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC), said that people coming to or returning from Hai Duong on and after March 3, the day the northern province completes its lockdown, must continue to submit health declarations. People returning to Hanoi from Covid-19 hotspots Cam Giang, Kinh Mon and Kim Thanh districts and Hai Duong Town in Hai Duong Province must also quarantine themselves at home for 14 days. A person return from Hai Duong can study and work normally if she/he tests negative for the coronavirus in the latest three days. The capital has not recorded any new community transmission since Feb. 16. But Hoang Duc Hanh, deputy director of the Hanoi Department of Health, said the possibility of new infections remains when colleges and universities reopen and the capital starts receiving foreign experts from overseas and people from local Covid-19 hotspots. Hanoi has recorded 36 local transmissions in the country's third Covid-19 outbreak that began on January 28. The nation’s Covid-19 total stands at 2,461 with 1,892 recoveries and 35 deaths. …

Non-essential services in Hanoi stop to minimize Covid-19 contagion

The Hanoitimes - Bars, parlors, cinemas and stadiums in Hanoi will remain shut to avoid coronavirus transmission through social gatherings. The Hanoi city government on March 25 asked competent agencies to enforce the closure of unnecessary business services in the city in a tougher move to contain the Covid-19 pandemic. Ta Hien Street (Photo: Zing) Non-essential businesses including karaoke bars, parlors, online game stores, cinemas, stadium, and fitness facilities are requested to close while grocery stores, pharmacies and gas stations could remain open. Previously, Hanoi’s authorities requested the closure of entertainment services until the end of March but did not state concretely as to what services should be ceased like their peers in Ho Chi Minh City. On March 24, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee suspended all catering and entertainment services including fitness centers, spa, hair salons and restaurants with capacity of more than 30 people in the locality from 18.00 on March 24 to March 31. At least eight people have been infected with the coronavirus due to their connection with a bar named Buddha in the city's District 2. At the meeting with local governments and ministries on March 24, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc ordered the closure of non-essential services across the country to curb the spread of the coronavirus. The decision was made in the context of the growing spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City and the effort of the entire country to contain it. …
