ASEAN Tourism Awards 2023 honor 14 businesses of Vietnam

Vietnam's tourism suppliers have won top awards in the categories of unique homestay, community tourism associated with local economic development, qualified public toilets, and best ASEAN spa services. The ASEAN Tourism Awards 2023 ceremony was held on February 5 in Indonesia as part of the ongoing ASEAN Tourism Forum 2023 under the theme "ASEAN: A Journey to Wonderful Destinations". Vietnam wins numerous ASEAN tourism awards

Two homestay groups in the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long and the Northwestern province of Lao Cai received the ASEAN Homestay Award. Meanwhile, four units won the ASEAN Community Tourism Award, namely the Quan Ba Community Tourism Service Cooperative in Ha Giang province, Sin Suoi Ho community tourism village in Lai Chau province, Tan Thanh fishing village in Quang Nam province, and Thai Hai Reserve Area of Ecological Houses-on-Stilts Village in Thai Nguyen province. The ASEAN Public Toilet Award was awarded to the toilets in Saigon Skydeck of Bitexco Financial Tower, Southern Women's Museum and Ben Xua Tourist Area in Ho Chi Minh City. Jeju Air to resume service to Vietnam from April 20

Vietnam plans to welcome one million Korean arrivals this year. Jeju Air, South Korea’s biggest low-cost carrier, will resume services on the routes from Incheon to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from April 20, after three years of suspension due to Covid-19, according to Yonhap. Vietnam’s GDP expands by 8.02% in 2022

Illustrative image (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s GDP growth reaches 8.02% this year, a record high in the 2011-2022 period as the economy is recovering strongly, General Director of the General Statistics Office (GSO) Nguyen Thi Huong told a press conference in Hanoi on December 29. The agro-forestry-fishery sector expanded by 3.36%, contributing 5.11% to the total added value of the whole economy. The industry-construction sector grew by 7.78%, contributing 38.24% while the service industry rose by 9.99%, making a 56.55% contribution to the economy. About the economic structure 2022, the agro-forestry-fishery sector accounted for a proportion of 11.88%, industry and construction 38.26%, services 41.33% and product taxes, exclusive of product subsidies, 8.53%. With an annual growth of 7.18%, final consumption contributed to 49.32% of the general growth. Spring festival to showcase cultural identities

The festival is held annually to welcome the spring and to honour ethnic communities' identity, promote solidarity among them and offer a traditional festive atmosphere to tourists as well. Some 100 representatives of 15 ethnic groups from 13 localities throughout the country will host activities each day during the month. Brokerage revenue falls at most securities companies amid market contraction

Statistics from HoSE showed that 10 securities companies with the largest brokerage value on HoSE in the fourth quarter of 2022 include VPS Securities JSC (VPS), SSI Securities Inc (SSI), VNDirect Securities Co (VNDirect), Mirae Asset Securities (MAS), Ho Chi Minh City Securities Corporation (HSC), Vietcombank Securities Co (VCSC), MB Securities Co (MBS), Techcombank Securities Co (TCBS), KIS Vietnam Securities Corporation (KIS), and Viet Dragon Securities Co (VDSC). Vietnam leads Southeast Asia in wooden furniture exports to Australia

Vietnam is followed Malaysia with 101.9 million USD and Indonesia with 61.7 million USD. The proportion of wooden furniture imports from these three markets accounted for 22.9% of the total value of wooden furniture imports into Australia. The Import-Export Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade, quoted statistics from the General Department of Customs saying that the export value of wooden office furniture reached 28.4 million USD in December, a year-on-year decline of 28.6%.
