Thousands of bright yellow petals are enticing Hanoians and visitors alike to visit a sunflower garden covering an area of 2,000 square metres in Imperial Citadel of Thang Long. According to the relic site’s management board, the flower garden was planted on October 20, 2017 and is now in full bloom. The gardeners say they have sought technical advice from experts so they can provide the best care for the flower garden. Sunflowers usually bloom for 15 to 20 days. However, the sunflowers in Imperial Citadel of Thang Long will stay in bloom until the Lunar New Year festival (Tet) to the pleasure of visitors and residents. The road to Doan Mon gate of the relic site is bathed in the bright yellow colour of sunflowers. Due to the cold weather, the sunflowers are large and vibrant. Kim Lien Shrine (Xa Dan Str, Hanoi) preserves numerous values of Vietnamese culture and history. As narrated, the shrine was built during ealier years of Ly Dynasty, in honor of Cao Son Dai Vuong (Saint Cao Son), one of the fifty sons of Lac Long Quan and Au Co (ancestors of the Vietnamese nation). He followed his father to the mountains and is one of two deities worshipped in the Tan Vien Mountain temple. Cao Son was the deity who secretly contributed to helping King Le Tuong Duc quell the rebellions in Dong Do, so the King decided to build Kim Lien Temple in 1509 to worship him. Kim Lien Shrine honors one of the four guardians of ancient Thang Long: Tran Vu in the north; Bach Ma in the east; Ling Lang in the west; and Cao Son in the south. Pepper exports gain volume, value rises The Hanoi Times –
The Hanoi Times - Vietnam shipped abroad 120,000 tonnes of pepper for 300 million USD in the past ten months, gaining rises of 52 percent and 8 percent in volume and value, respectively, over the same period last year. The figures were released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, which also unveiled that the US emerged as the country's largest consumption market in the reviewed time.The ministry also mentioned Germany , Saudi Arabia and Egypt as the other largest consumers of Vietnamese pepper, the spice that names the country the world's biggest pepper producer as it makes up for 30 percent of the world's pepper yield. It attributed pepper export surge to the growing demand for the spice in several foreign markets while other main pepper-growing countries, including Indonesia , Brazil , and India , reduced their supplies due to the impact of climate change.
