Married couple, children found dead in Hanoi apartment
A married couple and their two children were found dead in an apartment in Hanoi on Thursday, local authorities confirmed the same day. Four people in a family died in a flat, which is part of a premium complex in Mai Dong Ward, Hoang Mai District, Hanoi, leaders of the ward told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Thursday evening. They were found dead in their apartment on the 28th floor at 3:00 pm the same day and officials are investigating the case, they added. Their relatives had reported to the complex receptionists that they had been unable to contact the family in the apartment in question, numbered 2805, and requested help as a result. Carriers add flights to summer holiday roster
Vietnam Airlines Group said it plans to provide 32,400 domestic flights between June and August during the peak summer travel season, up 10 percent against the same period in 2019, the year before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. There would be 160 daily flights connecting Vietnam’s three biggest cities Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. It will also operate over 3,600 international flights during the period, 40 percent of pre-pandemic time. Vietravel Airlines said it will increase the frequency of flights from Hanoi to HCMC and Da Nang by two a day from June. Air tickets for domestic routes between June and August are nearly fully booked. It is estimated that a total of over 36,000 flights will be made available for summer travellers from June 1 to August 15. The three carriers will provide nearly 6.3 million seats on more than 32,400 domestic flights, up 10 percent compared to the same period of 2019 before the COVID-19 broke out. Hanoi still reported the highest number of infections on the day with 321 cases, followed by Vinh Phuc with 98 and Phu Tho with 94. The national tally reached 10,711,389. A total 6,495 COVID-19 patients were given the all clear on May 24, bringing the number of recoveries so far to 9,412,403. Vietnam reports additional 1,275 fresh Covid-19 cases, no death
An additional 1,275 new Covid-19 infections were confirmed on Thursday, raising the national tally to over 10.71 million, according to the Ministry of Health. According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 33 out of 63 localities in the country with some localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (309), Vinh Phuc (92), Nghe An (83), Phu Tho (80), and Danang (61). As of Thursday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to over 10.71 million. The country now stands 12th among 227 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
