The second of a two-part story reports on the reactions of administrators, online game licensees and players to the controversy surrounding these games. Nguyen Thanh Tai, vice chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City people's committee, this week instructed official agencies to check out and reassess some online games that have been panned as being too "violent." He also told the Department of Culture and Information to collect statistics on online games that contain violence, and tighten oversight of Internet shops where people play these games. This would help devise ways to better manage online games and plug any legal loopholes, he said.
