One of significant tasks in 2021 is the continuity of the city’s stable state machinery to ensure the effectiveness in management for the city development. When it comes to this task, the city must enhance re-structuring of the machinery and re-arranging of administrative staffs as well as grading of levels and powers along with supervision for transparency. The party committee said that it would also focus on spreading the information of the 13th National Party Congress and the 11th Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress as well as applying these congresses' resolutions into reality. With regard to building up a strong party, meeting participants emphasized on the continuous implementation of Resolution No.4 on Party building and rectification adopted at the fourth plenum of the 12th Party Central Committee. They also emphasized on improvement of the managerial skills and abilities of leaders. Additionally, participants were determined to maintain stable social security to pave the way for Thu Duc City’s socio-economic growth. Speaking at the meeting, Thu Duc City Party Chief Nguyen Van Hieu ordered staffs in state organizations in the city to actively take part in the building up of the party and the government to improve residents’ living conditions. Some billionaires have made big investment in agriculture with an ambitious plan to build a strong brand for Vietnam’s farm produce, but they do not expect to make a profit in the short term. Soc Trang ST25 rice Decade of investment Vinaseed (NSC) of Nguyen Duy Hung and Vinmart of billionaire Nguyen Dang Quang have reached an agreement on the distribution of ST25, recognized as the world’s best rice variety in the world, within the Vinmart and Vinmart+ network nationwide. Soc Trang’s ST25, cross-bred in 2010, is now grown on a large scale in Mekong Delta. The famous scented rice variety of Soc Trang gives high yield which can be farmed for two or three crops a year. Meanwhile, Thailand’s scented rice is a long-term variety and there is only one crop a year. ST25 has been distributed throughout the country for 10 years thanks to efforts by Hung and Quang. The task of building Vietnam’s rice brands and improving rice production so that Vietnamese no longer want foreign rice has been partially implemented. Large corporations and prestigious businesspeople have created changes in the thinking about rice production. Doan Nguyen Duc, or Boss Duc, president of Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAG), who laid a foundation for large-scale agricultural production with billions of dollars poured into his projects has reaped fruit in the agriculture sector. Duc said he will continue to develop agricultural production in an ambitious plan to build an "outstanding Vietnamese agricultural empire" in Southeast Asia. Two years after the signing of a cooperation agreement with Thaco, HAGL Agrico has more potential than ever. The huge land bank owned by HAGL Agrico and its potential were why Tran Ba Duong, president of Thaco, an automobile manufacturer, agreed to pour money into the company. But not in the last few months as the wave of anti-Asian violence and harassment has terrified him. "I do not dare go out without my children because I am afraid someone will knock me to the ground or stab me to death just because I am Asian," he laments, adding that the hate crimes have disrupted his daily life. Violence and hatred directed at Asian Americans, which also includes mugging, have surged across California since the beginning of the Covis-19 pandemic as Asians are blamed for its origin in Wuhan, China. Videos of an Asian woman being punched in the face on a subway platform and a Thai man being pushed to the ground in San Francisco have sparked fears, and the Vietnamese community is traumatized. Hoai Nguyen, a housewife in San Jose, home to the largest Vietnamese population in America, says: "It is annoying and scary when you go out and have to keep looking behind your back to see if you are being followed by someone suspicious." She has been called "coronavirus" several times while walking and shopping, but she had not expected the discrimination and hatred to turn violent and even murderous. Last month the Vietnamese community in San Jose was shocked after a 64-year-old woman was robbed in front of Dai Thanh Supermarket during the Lunar New Year holidays.
