(Photo: VNA) Amsterdam (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to the Netherlands Pham Viet Anh recently paid a working visit to the eastern city of Oss at the invitation of its Mayor Wobine Buijs-Claudemans . Despite its small size, Oss still has a nature reserve, modern production, and a farming area, which create a harmonious overall picture. The ambassador visited a farm run by a young couple who inherited it from the previous generation. They employ 55 workers and raise 350 milch cows. Their products are sold in a fairly large store. The farm also has a daycare centre for their workers' children who are exposed to cattle, hay, and grass from a young age. A wild elephant has ravaged fruit trees in the southern province of Binh Phuoc’s Dong Phu District. According to the forest management board in Dong Phu District, on March 19, the elephant appeared near the forest in Tan Loi Commune. A tree ruined by the elephant The animal travelled through a residential area which is home to around 61 households in Thach Mang Village, destroying 12 banana trees, one jackfruit tree and three papaw trees. It also broke into a local house, eating rice and salt. Local authorities have instructed locals to take measures to ensure safety in case the elephant returns. Based on the traces, the animal may head to Dong Nai Culture and Nature Reserve. Many local residents are worried that it could appear again. According to the announcement, Laos will suspend the import of pork, including live pigs and processed products, from Vietnam. Relevant units will monitor illegal import at international, local and international border gates and international airports. Additionally, pork that has been smuggled or illegally imported into Laos must be destroyed. Within the framework of a research and conservation programme of the primates in the central and Central Highlands regions, GreenViet, Fauna & Flora International (FFI) in Vietnam and the provincial Forest Protection Department and Management Board of Dong Xuan Forest have jointly conducted field surveys and discovered many of the mammals in forest areas in Phu Mo commune. The surveys, conducted from February 10-15, aims to collect information on population, distribution, and habitat of gray-shanked douc langurs.
