The Vietnam Circular Economy Forum 2022 took place on June 28 with a focus on how to translate the commitment on net zero emissions into action. Addressing the hybrid event, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha highlighted Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s message to the forum that calls for solidarity and joint actions to reduce carbon emissions towards net zero like the way humankind has responded to the COVID-19 pandemic. Binh Duong – attractive destination for green industries: EuroCham official
At a meeting with provincial leaders on June 27, Debarea, who was leading an EuroCham delegation to explore the investment environment in the southern industrial hub, highlighted the attractiveness of Binh Duong. He pointed out two major reasons making Binh Duong a good choice for European investors: transparency and effective support for investors. Debarea expressed hope that leaders of Binh Duong will continue to assist European firms in expanding their operations in the locality, thus contributing to promoting the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Europe and EuroCham members. The adaptation of circular economic models would help Vietnam realize its commitment to net-zero carbon emissions target by 2050. The kick-off conference on the national action plan for the circular economy and net-zero emissions - from commitment to action At the conference, national and international partners exchanged successful circular economy (CE) models from the region and globally, with the intention of identifying suitable models that can be applied in Vietnam. The forum provided an important opportunity for all parties to exchange ideas and prioritise mechanisms and policies to promote CE models. It hopes to strengthen cooperation and the mobilisation of resources, especially from the private sector, for the development and implementation of the CE model in Vietnam, which is critical to achieving the goal of net-zero emissions by 2050. India conglomerate pledges to invest 10 billion USD in Vietnam
Illustrative image (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – A joint venture between India ’s Adani Group and Vietnam’s Anh Phat Investment Construction & Trading JSC has been approved by authorities of Da Nang to start studying the development of a major seaport in the central city, according to Nhan dan (People) newspaper. Lien Chieu Port will be capable of handling 3.5 – 5 million tonnes of cargo annually in the first phase. It can accommodate vessels of up to 100,000 tonnes and container ships of up to 8,000 TEU. The new port will be of the world class and offer a new engine for the development of Da Nang and Vietnam at large. Insiders said the project can provide 5,000 jobs and contribute up to 80 million USD to the city's coffer, equivalent to around 2.1 percent of Da Nang’s Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), by 2030.
