Functional forces in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang on Sunday inspected several tourist bungalows built without permission in Ham Ninh Commune of Phu Quoc Island City, where tourism is booming. The inspection came following Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper’s report on the illegal constructions that have become commonplace in the popular resort island off southern Vietnam. The illicitly-built tourist bungalows encroached on the Phu Quoc marine protected areas. They were constructed on concrete pillars firmly planted into the ground below the water and connected to the shore via a wooden boardwalk. Local authorities have granted construction certificates to none of these tourist bungalows, some of the owners of the structures admitted. HCMC encountering difficulty hiring arts teachers for secondary schools
Candidates for the teacher employment process for the 2022-2023 school year. Being the first year running the new 2018 General Education program for grade 10, HCMC needs 30 teachers for Arts and Music subjects. However, after the first round of testing general knowledge and foreign language performance, only 3 teachers passed to enter the second round of testing the professional skills. To temporarily address this shortage, Principal of Trung Vuong Senior High School in District 1 shared that her school will sign contracts with visiting Arts teachers. She and other principals are considering the method of sharing Arts and Music teachers among schools in the same group to serve the demands of students. The U.S. Embassy in Hanoi last weekend shared a video on its Facebook page, showing the U.S. ambassador and food blogger Thuyen Vo trying the broken rice dish with grilled pork, bi (shredded pork skin) and cha (Vietnamese meatloaf with steamed pork, egg and other ingredients inside) at Moc's Restaurant in District 1. After trying the rice and the bi and the cha in his plate, using a pair of chopsticks, Knapper said in Vietnamese: "Rat la ngon!" ("Very delicious!") He said later in an embassy's statement: "It was great to have real com tam right here in Ho Chi Minh City with food blogger Thuyen Vo. She introduced me to one of her favorite com tam restaurants and told me how they make it. I hope to find some good com tam restaurants back home in Hanoi too." Vietnam tennis team advance to Davis Cup playoff
In the final of Group III in southern Vietnam's Tay Ninh Province on Saturday, Vietnam faced Pacific Oceania. In the first match, Trinh Linh Giang played Clement Mainguy. Although Giang took the lead twice, he still let Mainguy come back to win 7-4 and 6-3, claiming the overall 2-0 victory. The second match saw Vietnam’s number one Ly Hoang Nam going up against Colin Sinclair. Last year, Sinclair also defeated Nam during their Group III clash. But things were different this time, as Nam quickly won 6-2 in the first set. Sinclair returned with power in the second set and won 6-3. In the third set, Nam showed great stamina and tenacity to win 6-3 and 2-1 overall. Vietnamese duo win silver medal at world freestyle football championship
Two Vietnamese representatives, Nguyen Danh Quang and Nguyen Anh Tuan, have won a silver medal in the double routine event at the Super Ball 2022, a world freestyle football championship held in the Czech Republic. This is the first medal at a world-level tournament in Vietnamese freestyle football history. With the cheers of about 100 Vietnamese people living in the Czech Republic, the Vietnamese duo delivered an outstanding performance in the final round that earned them a perfect 25 points, equal to that of the champion pair from Japan, Yosshi and Yuji.
