Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Antonio Alessandro expressed his wish for Italy and Vietnam to join hands in golf tourism development during a presentation in Hanoi this week to promote the 44th Ryder Cup 2023, one of the world’s most prestigious golf tournaments. The Italian Embassy in Vietnam hosted the presentation on Thursday to launch activities that promote the Ryder Cup 2023, a biennial men’s golf competition between teams from Europe and the U.S., which will be organized for the first time in Italy from September 29 to October 1 at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome. Vietnam is the only country in Southeast Asia that the Organizing Committee for the Ryder Cup 2023 has selected as the place for launching such promotional activities. Vietnam will add more countries to its visa waiver program, offer a longer visa-free stay, and expand the list of countries eligible for e-visa application, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh told a teleconference on tourism development in 2023 titled ‘Boosting Tourism Recovery and Promoting Growth’ on Wednesday this week. These moves are expected to boost Vietnam’s inbound tourism one year after the country fully reopened its doors to international tourists on March 15 last year. The central city of Danang is making preparations to welcome the return of Chinese holidaymakers. Danang’s tourism industry has planned to reopen air routes from China’s major localities like Guangzhou and Shanghai to Danang this year as well as promote MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) tourism, golf tourism, and luxury beach resorts to Chinese travellers. The city is expected to welcome a Chinese Famtrip group to seek tour connection opportunities. After the trip, a communications programme about Danang tourism will be launched by E-newsletter and Wechat in China. Danang will also organise the International Fireworks Festival 2023.
