He will first join the Vietnamese team at the upcoming King’s Cup in Thailand next Wednesday. Phuong had been loaned by Hoang Anh Gia Lai to Incheon for one season. But Hoang Anh Gia Lai’s JMG Global Academy managed to get him a trial at a second-tier French team, Nguyen Tan Anh, the club’s manager, told VnExpress. No further information has been revealed on what Phuong will be doing in France. "We discussed with Incheon United and got their approval. After the King's Cup, Cong Phuong will go to France," Anh said. In his final match at Incheon in the K-League on Saturday, he did not come off the bench. In the previous 14 matches he only played 352 minutes and failed to score, having only three shots at goal. But not everything was doom and gloom, and he did cause an impression within the team and garnered some praise from South Korean sports commentators. Phuong has flown directly to Thailand to join the national team ahead of their match against Thailand on June 5. … [Read more...] about Vietnamese striker parts ways with Korean club, headed for France

French PM fails to appease strikers with pension reform plan
Paris has been hard hit by the transport strikes. (AFP/Aurore MESENGE) Public transport networks in Paris and other cities have been paralysed by the walkout, which began last Thursday and left shops, hotels and restaurants fearing for their bottom line. Edouard Philippe insisted the government would pursue its objective of creating a new points-based pension system that fuses the country's 42 existing plans into one, but said the reform was "not a battle". In a televised address, Philippe sought to assuage unions' fears by saying the changes would be implemented gradually, "without brutality", and would not affect workers born before 1975. But he angered many with his announcement that although the legal retirement age would remain 62, the government would introduce a "bonus/penalty" system aimed at trying to get … [Read more...] about French PM fails to appease strikers with pension reform plan

Vietnam, South Korea to curb visa brokering
The exercise aims to prevent issuance of visas to people looking to overstay and work illegally in the country, Ambassador Park Noh-wan said. "South Korea’s five-year visa policy for Vietnam could result in people staying in South Korea illegally. The two countries are considering simplifying visa issuance processes to prevent interference from middlemen (third parties that provide visas unofficially)," Park said at a press meet. He was referring to a South Korean policy issued last year, allowing Vietnamese from Hanoi, Da Nang and HCMC to have C-3 visas, which would allow holders to stay in South Korea for up to 30 days with no restrictions on the number of visits for a period of five years. The two countries are moving towards allowing visa exemption for their citizens, he added. South Korea is one of the largest labor export markets for Vietnam. Its Yonhap News Agency reported that Vietnamese were the third largest group of foreign nationals in the country with 196,633 (8.3 … [Read more...] about Vietnam, South Korea to curb visa brokering
