U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson arrived in the central Vietnamese city of Da Nang around Monday noon, commencing a visit to Vietnam for the first time in more than four decades. The huge warship, accompanied by guided missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain and destroyer USS Wayne E.Meyer, will have a five-day stay in the central port city, marking the biggest U.S. military presence in Vietnam since the war ended in 1975. Upon arriving at Da Nang Bay, some 500m from the city’s Tien Sa Port, the aircraft carrier approached a 300-seat passenger boat, on which its crew members will be transited to the mainland. Vietnam’s first tsunami alert system to be installed in Da Nang
Mr. Tran Van Thuan, director of Viettel in Da Nang, disclosed recently that the Da Nang People's Committee had agreed for Viettel to carry out a pilot project to install 10 tsunami early warning stations in the city. Da Nang will become the first locality in the country to have a tsunami alert system. This is part of a project to build a national tsunami alert system with 100 stations to provide warnings of possible tsunamis in the Eastern Sea. The stations will be set up at Man Thai, Phuoc My, the office of the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourism beaches (Son Tra District); Hoa Hiep Nam, Hoa Minh and Lien Chieu Broacasting Station (Lien Chieu district); Ngu Hanh Son Broacasting Station, Hoa Hai Ward (Ngu Hanh Son district); Xuan Ha (Thanh Khe District) and the Furama Resort Da Nang. Vietnamese-Belgium couple and Italian ice-cream brand name in Da Nang
Unavailable either in Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, Italy's Galeto trademarked Ice-cream has followed couple Coulier Patrick and Do Thi Kim Sa's steps to fame in Da Nang city. The Sasa Galeto shop was recently opened in the Green Island area of the city. At a garden dominated by a 68-year-old yellow gage plum tree, tables are full of customers coming to taste pure Galeto ice creams which are made from New Zealand and Italian ingredients. The ice-creams are made even more special due to the chocolate imported from Belgium, Coulier Patrick's homeland. His young wife-Do Thi Kim Sa, a Vietnamese national, described that what was so special about the Sasa Galeto ice-creams was that they were mostly made of fresh fruits without any flavoring or chemicals.
