Hanoi-based Vietnam-Cuba Hospital has coordinated with Operation Smile Vietnam to provide free cleft lip operations for over 120 disadvantaged people in the northern region. A child is given check-up for the cleft lip operation Doctor Nguyen Dinh Phuc, director of Vietnam-Cuba Hospital, said that many of the people came from families living in remote northern mountainous areas. "104 of them are children under 15 years old while the programme also gives chances to many adult patients," the doctor said. This is the first activity held after the two-year Covid-19 pandemic. The programme saw the participation of over 70 doctors, nurses, and volunteers from the Vietnam-Cuba Hospital and Operation Smile Vietnam. The programme will run until the end of June. Since Vietnam reopened its border for foreign tourists in March 2022, Emirates has gradually increased the weekly frequency on both routes from Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi, offering travellers from Vietnam more convenience as well as safe and seamless connection to Dubai and onward to Emirates’ global network of over 130 destinations. Starting from 24 June 2022, Emirates will boost its frequency from Hanoi to daily flights. From 24 to 30 June, Emirates flight EK394 will depart Dubai at 03:30hrs, arriving in Hanoi at 13:15hrs while on its return leg, Emirates flight EK395 will depart Hanoi at 00:25hrs, arriving in Dubai at 04:00hrs. Vietnam was recently named amongst the top three Asia-Pacific countries where people have regained their confidence in travel. According to the Travel Confidence Index, a report commissioned by leading online travel company Booking.com, the Vietnamese population is the second most confident in travel, with 85 percent of Vietnamese travelers sharing that they intend to travel at some point in the next 12 months. Numbers one and two on the list were India (86 percent) and China (79 percent). The online survey, which polled 11,000 travelers from 11 countries and territories across Asia and Oceania between April and May 2022, aimed to track the impact of geopolitical and societal diversities in the region, as well as the varied response to the COVID-19 pandemic, on overall confidence levels when it comes to travel.
