During their meeting, FM Son and Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn were pleased with the fruitful developments of the bilateral relationship in recent times, and agreed to continue promoting the exchange of high-level visits via all channels, enhancing people-to-people exchange; maintaining and optimizing the effectiveness of existing bilateral cooperation mechanisms; fostering economic connections; strengthening cooperation between localities, especially those that share borders; and exerting effort to speed up tourism recovery. (Photo: VNA) Ba Ria-Vung Tau (VNA) – Besides strict administrative measures to fight illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, authorities in coastal provinces and cities in Vietnam have begun communication programmes to raise awareness for fishermen to curb the issue. These communication programmes need to be effective to curb IUU fishing , especially since the European Commission (EC) issued a “yellow card” warning against Vietnamese seafood in 2017. Last year, the provincial People's Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau issued a warning radio message to keep fishermen in line. According to Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, the meeting had substantive discussions on key issues, focusing on evaluating the implementation of ASEAN's Five-Point Consensus (5PC) on Myanmar; regional and international issues; and the relations between ASEAN and partners. The Korean Ministry of Employment and Labor said the country has plans to employ about 110,000 migrant workers this year to work at its farms and factories, but some businesses believed even more will be needed to keep them running. Apart from working to raise the number of guest workers under the Employment Permit System (EPS), Vietnam's competent agencies have also discussed with Korean relevant units to loosen conditions, making it easier for shipbuilding workers to enter the RoK. Vietnam's labor management board in the RoK has also coordinated with the Vietnam EPS Labor Management Office and support centers for guest workers to diversify communication and support activities. Last year, Vietnam sent nearly 9,000 workers to the RoK under the EPS program, out of 70,000 set for 16 selected countries.
