China is the largest export market of Vietnamese fruits and vegetables

Việt Nam hopes to be allowed official export of dragon fruit to China this year. — VNA/VNS Photo China is the largest export market of Vietnamese fruits and vegetables, accounting for nearly 65 per cent of the total fruit and vegetable export value, according to Đặng Phúc Nguyên, general secretary of the Việt Nam Fruit and Vegetable Association. Besides durian, Việt Nam hopes to be granted official export permission for jackfruit and dragon fruit to this market from now to the end of this year. With increasing quality, Vietnamese fruits are popular among Chinese consumers. The fruit exports are forecast to maintain growth, especially with increasing demand during the holiday season. Drugged-up drunk driver loses short high-speed chase
Buon Ma Thuot City Police in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak apprehended Nguyen Van Tin, 40, for failing alcohol level tests, testing positive for narcotics, and not abiding by orders from traffic police officers. On Monday night, teams of police officers were stationed on Phan Chu Trinh Street to check for alcohol level violations. Officers requested a pickup truck to stop and have the driver, Tin, undergo a breathalyzer test. However, Tin did not abide by the request and sped past the officers instead. Police gave chase and while they were in pursuit Tin ran red lights and drove recklessly. Officers managed to stop him three minutes into the chase on Le Dai Hanh Street. His alcohol level was 0.407 mg per liter, and he also tested positive for narcotics. Tin said he had gotten drunk beforehand and "lost control." "My behavior was dangerous," he said. Man caught stealing lottery tickets from disabled woman
Pham Ngoc Vinh, 52, was arrested by Bien Hoa City police on Tuesday for obtaining property by fraud. Vinh said he rode to Bien Hoa from Ho Chi Minh City's District 12 on Saturday, bringing with him 470 expired lottery tickets, aiming to swap them out for valid tickets and sell them. When he reached Duong Tu Giang Street, he saw Le Thi Thuan, a woman in a wheelchair with no arms and legs, selling lottery tickets. He then pretended to buy tickets from her. Thuan brought out a pack of 530 tickets to pick out eight for Vinh. While she was distracted, Vinh swapped the pack of valid tickets with the expired ones and left. When Thuan found out what happened, she tried to call for help, but Vinh had already gone. Thuan then reported what happened to the police. Officers suspected that the perpetrator may try to pull the same stunt in other places, so they dispatched police to lay low in areas where disabled people often sell lottery tickets. Floods isolate villages in central Vietnam
Quang Binh, home to world's largest cave Son Doong, experienced heavy rains triggered by a tropical depression Monday night through Tuesday morning. Routes connecting villages and communes in Minh Hoa, Tuyen Hoa and Quang Ninh districts were flooded by water levels 1-2 meters deep. Rockslides also caused traffic jams on National Highways 15 and 9B. The Quang Binh Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue said thousands of families in 18 villages had been isolated by the floods, and people were forced to use boats to travel around. "On the night of September 25, authorities cooperated with border guards to help dozens of families in flooded areas relocate with their belongings and move to shelters," said a representative from Dan Hoa Commune in Minh Hoa District.
