The health authority of Lao Cai Province in northern Vietnam said on Friday afternoon that it had detected and put under control an influenza A outbreak that has left more than 200 local children infected. A report of the Bao Yen District Medical Center showed that the first cases were reported on March 7 after five students developed such symptoms as cough, fever, fatigue and had to be off from school. The flu then spread to the community. On March 9, a healthcare station in Pho Rang Town, Bao Yen District reported 133 local students exhibiting the same symptoms to the Bao Yen District Medical Center. The number of flu-hit students in the area has neared 240 after one week. China cuts reserve ratio given domestic pressures, overseas risks: state media
The central bank on Friday reduced the amount of cash banks must hold as reserves for the first time this year to support a nascent recovery in the world's second-biggest economy. The cut in the reserve ratio came earlier than financial markets had anticipated. The Economic Daily said in a front-page article that the move by the People's Bank of China will ease tension after demand for funds had increased significantly amid the economic recovery. The early release of liquidity will also help prepare for the next stage of demand expansion, it said. "Currently the risks in the overseas banking industry are increasing and the external environment is becoming more and more complicated," the newspaper said. Hanoi to train 14,700 workers in less than three months
All apprentices must be at least 15 years of age and have educational and health qualifications appropriate to the trade they are learning. Hanoi has drawn up a plan to train 14,720 workers in less than three months by 2023, including women, rural workers, people with disabilities, and young people doing their military service. The plan aims to help raise the proportion of educated workers to 73.2%, of which the share of workers with degrees and certificates will reach at least 52.5%. Accordingly, the Hanoi People’s Committee will support elementary-level training for eleven groups of workers in 78 occupations in the 2023-2025 period.
