Foreign investors remain optimistic about VN stock market
Foreign capital is expected to continue to flow into the stock market as foreign investors' confidence remains strongly. — VNA/VNS Photo From being net sellers in the first nine months of 2022, foreign investors have become the driving force supporting the Vietnamese stock market in the last few months, and the inflows are expected to continue this year. In 2022, this group net disbursed more than VND29.2 trillion (US$1.2 billion) to the market, while it has net sold nearly VND18.8 trillion and set a record net selling value of over VND62.2 trillion in 2021. In November alone, more than VN16 trillion in net disbursed cash flow from foreign investors was significantly supported by exchange-traded fund (ETF) capital inflows into the market, primarily from the Fubon ETF and the VNDiamond Index-based ETF. FDI commitment rebound driven by greenfield investment surge

Industrial production moderates, FDI bounces back The WB said FDI commitment bounced back strongly thanks to a jump in greenfield investment in electricity, gas, and water supply, while FDI disbursement maintained robust growth. Total investment commitment jumped to 3.7 billion USD in October, up 133% year on year and the second highest level in 2022. This improvement was driven by a lump sum greenfield investment of 2 billion USD in electricity, gas, and water supply. A survey revealed that up to 80 percent of Vietnamese people said they are planning vacations to make up for what the COVID-19 pandemic has deprived them of, and 43 percent said they want to experience a lesser-known place, instead of the destinations too familiar to them. It is also noteworthy that booking by tourists in Vietnam to share popular destinations is becoming a dominating trend. 2023 a promising year for tourism: official
Statistics released by the VNAT on January 29 showed that over 871,000 foreigners arrived in Vietnam in January, up 23.2% month-on-month. Of them, 91.9% travelled by air, 7.5% by road, and 0.6% by sea. Tourism revenue during the month was estimated at VND 2.2 trillion (USD 95.6 million), up 113.4% annually. Several localities posted spikes in receipts such as Hai Phong up 541.5%, Da Nang 387.1%, Tien Giang 380.2%, Lao Cai 196.3%, Hanoi 113.8%, and Ho Chi Minh City 98.7%. International flights and maritime travel services have returned to the pre-pandemic level.
