Le Thanh Kinh, head of Le Nguyen law office, said more enterprises in the banking, manufacturing and service sectors have come to his office to seek advice on labor issues. Kinh described the upsurge in the number of companies seeking legal advice on labor issues as an interesting phenomenon. PM okays a number of foreign-funded projects
The Prime Minister on June 10 gave the nod to implementation of a number of foreign-funded projects. The PM has permitted the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to take part in the second phase of a technical assistance project to increase its preparedness in emergency cases to cope with the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). Vietnam was among five Asian nations that have benefited from the project funded by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO). The other four include Cambodia, Laos, Mongolia and China. The PM also approved a technical assistance project to finalise the legal framework and the security transactions registration system in Vietnam. The project will be carried out with a non-refundable aid of 515,000 USD jointly provided by the World Bank (WB) and the Mekong Private Sector Development Facility (MPDF) and the Foreign Investment Advisory Service (FIAS) of the International Financial Corporation (IFC). Vietnam to permit foreign banks to provide full services
Vietnam has approved a new law that allows foreign-invested banks to offer full services, in preparation for the country's membership in the World Trade Organization, the Dow Jones Newswires reported Friday. The government is speeding up negotiations in hopes of joining the WTO by the end of the year and is preparing to open its financial and banking sector to foreign competition, a central bank official told Dow Jones Newswires. While the government has already approved the new law, associated regulations have yet to be worked out, the official said.
